Take the Time to Tanka
Poetry Contest Description
Write a Love Tanka
"One of the oldest Japanese forms, Tanka originated in the seventh century, and quickly became the preferred verse form not only in the Japanese Imperial Court, where nobles competed in Tanka contests, but for women and men engaged in courtship." Poets.org
The format is: 5, 7, 5, 7, 7 syllables.
Rules
• Any kind of love.
Ex. music, sport, poetry, best friend, nature
• One Entry Per Poet
• Visuals allowed (no graphic images) and no audio.
• New written work only.
• Erotica allowed (not graphic)
Example:
bearings
your lips quietly
whisper enchantments to me
red will be my death
it should be my warning sign
but I’m a bull and I charge
The Tanka above is part of a bigger poem I wrote with 3 tankas in it. The poem was about my gf's hair Tanka 1, eyes Tanka 2, and lips Tanka 3. I didn't want to link the whole poem because I didn't want to confuse as to what I am looking for.
I look forward to reading the entries.
I will not be posting after every post to keep the channel clear.
