Sacred Beliefs
Poetry Contest Description
Get your Hoodoo on

I want to know about your system of belief, what it is you adhere to, be it religion, spirituality, atheism, agnosticism, witchcraft, voodoo, hoodoo, or even nihilism. This is your chance to educate us here at DU about your sacred system of belief.
Yes; sacred. Because regardless of what you believe, your path is your experience, and all experience is sacred to knowledge and growth.
I look forward to reading and educating myself in regards to your personal truths and the path you tread.
A few rules because DU:
New entries only
No erotic entries
Two entries per DU profile
No dissing anyone's beliefs. This is about YOU.
All forms acceptable ( visual, spoken word, and song included )
I don't want to cap a length on your personal beliefs; however, I also don't want a manifesto. So, let's say around 300 words max.
Any style: poetic, prose, song lyrics, whatnot.
I think that's it. Feel free to ask for clarification.
Afterlife
Only now am asking my Lord
to make me steadfast in His religion..
Now that am possessed
But still not yet invade..
I can't find my aid
Covered in a cob web..
What's wrong with my brain?
So much pain in my head..
Pool of my own blood
Soaked in a drill hole..
I must have gone sane .. or is this insane?..
What's up with my change?
I might have exchanged..
What's this am feeling?
How can I engage?
How far can I live?
I need not an answer
I don't need a back up..
If so am living
Still on the sidewalk
Submitting my homework..
Voices from far away..
People so nearly..
No one will stare at me..
Pretending not to see me..
Am not understanding..
This might be the hard way..
Some got the soft way..
It is stated that I know Marie Claire..
Also reported that I know Fowler Sia..
I am not a foreseer..
I don't know Mary Claire..
I only know the name Fowler Sia..
I might not sound very clear..
This is me reporting from the afterlife..
I can only hear the sound of a baby yelling Mama mia mia..
to make me steadfast in His religion..
Now that am possessed
But still not yet invade..
I can't find my aid
Covered in a cob web..
What's wrong with my brain?
So much pain in my head..

The universe is my lover
Waking up to flickering forces of creation
lavender skies are draped over this half light
Blemished in the woven dark
Through each vein
waves come crashing
Sounds of the senses
faded away
Remembering
the longest day
the infinite shore
in a milky white sea
floating in a bryzantine
layer of time
capturing
northern lights
crushing their wings
of angels falling
splintered
Footprints
Carving the crypt of my dreams
where all spirals as one
Once the dire heart was the same in all creatures. We were sentient beings.
We heard the spiders weave their web as threads of silver moonlight shone
Moon encompassed all, she cradled our worlds.
Long before the sun
At dusk we stranded
Long before shapes
Trees were thicker and their hearts were greener. Wider than the woods.
Robed in musk of pine and birches we shielded ourselves from daylight
Mother tree cradled us kindly, her chest of harvesting leaves brought us
the nurturing needs, against Her lap we lay, our breath a choir of sound.
We knew She could hear us cry
She stroked our fur and combed the sadness from it
Our bones in flame of Her love
Fire She brought us, flame rose like celestial comets, to warm our blood
She peeled the old skin, formed the new.
Her flame of transformation
It deepened our eyes
We seek Her not
Knowing she will always find us

CLUELESS
kindness
is my guiding light
my blessing
and my holy fight
and all the gods
can have their time
dispensing hope
in hearts and minds
because we're lonely
out in space
trapped inside this scary place
where mayhem
always takes the reins
and lovers leave
and sickness pains
and i can't guess
what all awaits
when my body
meets it fate --
something?
nothing?
either way
i know I just
don't have a say
so, yes,
i take the time to pray
and feel the light
and bless the day
but i don't know
who hears those prayers
and life has taught me
not to dare
to guess at things
i cannot see
still,
my faith
has set me free
and angels
real or make believe
dispense their gifts
to clueless me
is my guiding light
my blessing
and my holy fight
and all the gods
can have their time
dispensing hope

Meeting Bare Minimum Requirements
Getting lost for what
seems to be lifetimes
gone by in blinking of eyes
or in reverie's momentary flash
dance begun and ended
without any particular partner
is how we navigate our way
around a pole positioned existence
without border walls, limitations
or stage drop-off
Now, to lace such free-form
verse in fancier phrase when already
uncomplicated in its briefness
is often a disservice
although a million other
well proportioned metaphors
could give the aforementioned
bare skinned figuring
your money's worth of
entertainment with a heaping
handful helping of unmentionedables
Poetry often is pretty words
stringing you along until the song
ends leaving you with no meaning
deeper than mere pocket space
empty of any single
self aware expansion
while a no-frilled embodiment
provided by the scant covering
of simple basics can offer
a Universe of thrilling fulfillment

Othin
Here
hush now
soothing slither
a gentle knowing
night frames her tears
deep in cosmic ovaries
death of depths
depths of death
Deerskin frames this drum
wherein breathing wind
is calling all nine worlds
oh great voices
mingle as one
harpiscord
Warrior
my eyes bleed
as I proceed
worlds
Dwarfen earth beyond earth
troll spell binding songs
Lightelves lift lengthening light
Blackelves break silent shadow
giant is this circle
wielder of the spear
I take a stick tapping on another
calling the four winds
the nine worlds
hearing ravens of infinity
flapping their wings
as I sing
Heal me
of all
Fates of man
wind listener
awaken me
bring me
the corpse of poetry
the knuckle bones
restoring
each molecule
called history
