Poetry Contest

Write short form poems about every day objects
I've been reading ALL the short forms of poetry lately: haiku, senyru, tanka, micro poems, insta-poems, and twitter poems. I LOVE powerful punches in short amounts of space. I like to write them, I like to read them.

So....

I want short poems about your prized possessions. Tell me why they are prized. Why they are special. Who gave it to you. Tell me ALL about it.

In 40 words or less.

Here's the nitty gritty:

1. Write a poem, in 40 words or less, about your most prized possession.
2. Title your poem.
3. I won't say you can't write erotica, but keep it PG please.
4. If you'd like to use a specific form, go for it. But I'm not being picky. Just no more than 40 words.
5. Share your poem from your page, don't copy and paste it here. If you need help figuring out how to do that, just ask and I'll help you out!
6. Three entries per DUP persona. You don't have to do three entries. But you can do up to three.

I think that's it. Questions? Ask away! I can't wait to read your entries!

Guardian Owl of Tourmaline

guardian owl of tourmaline,
your palm-sized purpose
reveling in reconciliation,
carved compassion etched
upon intricate feather;
a gift most precious
given when our love
was still a thing
I’d swear by

The Spectacular Nature of Modern vs. Vintage

Staring at my vintage watch circa 1965
Stainless Steel was real back then
Not like the plated shiny shit
they use today

Our modern world
is an imitation of its once great self
Insist on quality
You'll never go wrong there

I'm an older bloke
I see reality for what is
Not so much sentimental
Just pragmatic as the day is long
