in a word...with a twist 2

poet Anonymous

Poetry Contest

Poems using specific not so daily used words – with a twist
Here’s the latest installment of my “in a Word – with a twist” comp. Write a poem using the following words in their proper context…but make it erotic. Seductive, maybe a hint raunchy, but keep it sensual. Think metaphorically, step outside the normal layout, be original. Try to avoid vulgar clichés. But above all, use the listed definitions. All of the required words must be used in the poem. Here are the words:

Antediluvian - Very old, old-fashioned, out of date, antiquated, primitive

Chelonian - Like a turtle (and who doesn't like turtles?)

Gibbous - Characterized by convexity or swelling, as when the moon is more than half illuminated, but not full

Littoral - Relating to or situated on the shore of the sea or a lake

Oeuvre - The works of a painter, composer, or author regarded collectively

Refulgent - Radiant; shining brightly. Seeming to shine with light or warmth

Tout de suite - Right away; immediately

Winsome - Innocently charming, engaging, appealing

* This comp is meant to encourage new members or those who don’t typically enter comps to give it a shot. To that end, it is open only to writers with fewer than 5 competition trophies (this does NOT include trophies for Top Critiquer or Poem of the Month) We will be checking these…

*1 entry only
*3 weeks
*No epic sagas please – keep it to 60 lines or less
*Post your poem & then link it here
*Please post comments to the writer’s personal page.

Wet dream

Our gaze touched the grasp of our reproduction system,
Unexpectedly you aroused my imminent negotiation
You light up the room,
your atmospherically aroma of Neptune's winsome,
As our gibbous intention whispered inclination,
as you proposed zero gravitation,
captions of his shades managed to oeuvre my fortitude,
surrendered to passionate and intrinsic maneuver,
As our bodies scream “ tout de suite”
“tout the suite” baby,
Like a chelonian champ you rock me,
slowly,
intimately,
Transformed our organic landscape,
into series of antediluvian arousal and moans,
I Succumbed by your willingness to evoke and ejaculate,
Gardened by littoral ocean’s salty spit,
As the moon and the stars reluctantly
Speak their probation of penetrative
encounter of sands and seashells,
with refulgent round of applause, they stare as we consume,
Silently,
Vividly
as our eyes get lost in between
movements of circular in and out,
we simultaneously

…….cum,

my breath felt so short,
heart beats like horses force,
brutally awaken from
my spree
to find out,
it was just
a wet dream
of

…….. my ink

A Dream In the Center of Time and Space

Here we are,
A new step in our future,
A moment I've been longing for,
With the one I adore....
To be alone in a moment of time,
With the love of my life, sublime.
It's now been a year that we've been together,
Through so many storms, minor, and major, we did weather.
My love, so sweet, kind, intelligent, loving,
Lovable, honorable, truthful, an antediluvian formality and manners, and caring,
Wise, beautiful, creative, interesting, nerdy, talented,
The list could go on and on without end....
Just the two of us alone,
We're reaching a new milestone,
Growing higher, has this flame
...And I can see in his eyes, he feels the same.
Us both, sitting in a place,
At the center of both time and space,
Both metaphorically and littoral,
On the edge of this sea of space, immortal.
Sitting together, staring into the deep, abyss of galaxies, not saying a word,
Until he, without a word,
Stands up to go inside,
And calls me inside,
"Care to join me?" He asks, sweetly,
Flustered, knowing where this will lead, I follow him promptly.
And tout de suite, to a dim, little room,
His scent overwhelming me, like a fine perfume,
Upon a bed in the center, inside a dark canopy,
We sit, staring into each other's eyes, full of beauty...
I see galaxies within his eyes,
We are each other's prize.
As we lean in to kiss,
My body takes control and seems to know just what to do, even with zero practice.
Slowly, he pulls me out of my chelonian shell,
Knowing just what to do, and how to do it so well.
He smiles at me, a winsome smile,
As celestial bodies are pulled together by a gibbous gravity, as we lay onto the finest cotton textile.
I run my fingers through his curly, white hair,
And kiss his wrinkles...his face, his neck...everywhere.
Holding in my arms, his exposed, refulgent being,
More beautiful than any work of art in any oeuvre,
Beautiful, innocent, wise, and pure.
Slowly but surely,
One thing leads to another so easily,
Until we're in another dimension,
Made entirely out of flame, that through us, does burn.
Where tender ripples, become waves of tenderness,
As atoms colide, in a land of unknown, magickal, wilderness.
As love soars on celestial wings,
Learning new things.
Reaching places within my soul I didn't even know were there,
Like a Mandelbrot fractle, going on forever, and ever.
And then love lands...
Slowly falling asleep, ear against heart, when all sounds are at their ends,
Except for the ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom, of love,
The slowing thumping in his chest, with my ear above.
A gentle sigh, a nonverbal statement of love,
From both our lips,
As, into the dream world our minds slip.

Thank you to each of you who took part in this challenge. It was good to see some new faces here. Each piece was unique for its own voice and direction. And for that, each a winner – in my opinion.

The trophy for this challenge goes to butters, for her entry One Man’s Art. We felt the direction you took your piece in was unexpected and brilliant. Your use of words made perfect sense and created a setting easily imagined…with a strong ending. Unexpected, yes. We love what you did with the challenge. Congratulations on a well-deserved win!

Runner-up for this one was very difficult. Each piece shone brightly on its own, but in the end we chose Orc_Pirate_68 for her entry, A Dream in the Center of Time and Space. Beautifully imagined and beautifully written. You took us to your world. Congratulations on capturing the runner-up spot!

Thank you again to everyone who took part! It was a great turn-out of new voices. Be safe, take care and write on!
