Sound of Autumn

The rustling of leaves
Crunching like ice beneath her
Feet is beautiful

Autumn Breath

She takes the smell of
Autumn into her lungs as
She breathes a new breath

Desert Rose

Sandy, dry, desert,
Water gone, minerals form
Tan and rust roses.

Summery muse

When golden orbs of sunshine
kiss your window sill
and sunlight enters
like divine floodlights
and warms you up softly
glinting upon your knick knacks
and the decor then shines
like glittery sequins
you know
it's time you stroll to the sunkissed beach
and let sand and sun combine
in olden golden shine
for holidaying kodak moments!!
Trees offer a background of tinsels
A sunshiny backdrop for snaps

But in tropical places
the heat of the summer
can also be a real big bummer!
Swimming pools a lucky escape
from a scorching parched landscape.

A Golden Hue (Haiku)

Over the mountains
the sun comes up gloriously
  in a golden hue

Despite haters and doubters every entry without fail was indeed a Traditional Japanese Haiku. The standard of all the entries was top notch. This is the most difficult Competition I have had the pleasure of judging since joining DU and it was almost too close to call.

Congratulations to souladareatease coming up trumps to scoop the trophy -  cold_fusion and PlaydateWithFire commended as runners up. Thank you once again to everyone who entered the quality of your poetry certainly shone through :-))))))))))))
