Twice It Came

•   •
•This•
•hadn’t •
•ever been•
•anything  I’d •
•experienced  in •
•my life until this week•
•4th of July, the first quake•
•gripping a sunshine state in fear•
•breaking through the rock foundation,•
•fault lines  in a  parched desert,•
•fractured highway shifting•
•power lines are down•
•bringing the night•
•when the day •
•and night•
•broke •
•     •

I knew I'd express it pretty soon.  It came about 4 hours ago, in a double octet, to show the 2 slip-strike quakes that hit.

ON and Off again

I  feel  a  little  bloated  now
                              Diets to feel slightly slimmer
                                 All my clothes like sacks
                                 Weight loss stars earned
                                  Gone pounds and stones
                                       Single size shape
                                              Wasting
                                                  Down
                                              Regressed
                                        Resolve gone
                      Binged again and sobbed
                 Scales  like  men  don't   lie
                              Calories traffic lights all ate
                           Again  the   refilled  hourglass
                       For heartbreaks need to  masticate

Her smile

Lying there in her bed, smiling,
Astaire's "Cheek to Cheek", playing,
For her, they were happy,
Her spirit so free,
From ear to ear,
Grin severe,
Knife cut,
Blood....

Need Help, Family Time, and Compassion

Don't even ask, always helping,
Don't always hear me yelping,
Myself, for help, crying,
Exasperated,
They get upset,
When they hear,
My fears,
Tears.
Alone,
Me, forgone,
When I need them.
Me, they do condemn,
See my heart as a brat,
Feelings, held in, can't see that,
Until seeing, breaking point, bad.

While We Were Both Posing Nude For Art Class

It was while we were both posing
nude for art class that I had
           suddenly felt her hand
               going down my leg
                   and to this one
                     certain stiff
                         rod of
                         mine.

How well appointed can one be, Josh!
The birthday of  a nation and of two of its citizens coincide with exciting symmetry.  And the memory of the grand-est of them coincides with this octet competition.

Thanks for your entry.

You're a true artist, Jade!  Thanks for this entry, which blesses the page with poise and purpose.

July 4 seems to be propitious to both Josh and you in similar ways.
