Poetry Contest

Esoteric understanding...how does the hidden part of the world and the hidden part of yourself... bridge together?

One poem per writer...beyond that you have full liberty in the form it takes...

The Etymology of Soul

The mind, mounted on subtle winds.

Soul moves mind

Mind becomes form.

A trinity, holy it becomes.

That which lives, breathes.

Breath is soul

Air: Anil

Vayu

Arya Tara

Gathering mind

Dissolving layer by layer

Into Clear Light Emptiness.

You Wouldn’t Understand

I find myself walled up in the
catacombs of my mind screaming
“Amontillado” at the top of my lungs
while I walk away laughing.

Ancient runes lost to time
Stories I’ve told no one

I sift through my artifacts:
Picture of us, gifted
Letter of breakup, left on a pillow
Love’s Journal, abandoned
Picture of you, stolen

My love will not echo in eternity
Nor would my rage if I had any left
I leave a small wake behind me
Enough to know I lived for a time

And so I turned to Mother Earth
Took a drag of my cigarette
A sip of my bourbon and said:
“You’re only as interesting as your secrets”

She didn’t go home with me,
But she thought about it.

Salt In The Wind

Today I realize
Angels are here with me
This city just won't let me be
The wicked are always at my door
They keep crying out for more

Voices echoing in my head
Saying leave here before you're dead
Don't look back my friend
Her memory blows like the salt in the wind

Here on this mountain
There's no peace within me
I pray for you to set me free
Everything I can't remember
They took from me in disgrace
In their attempt to save the human race

Voices echoing in my head
Saying leave here before you're dead
Don't look back my friend
Her memory blows like the salt in the wind
Like salt in the wind

(Instrumental)

I'm trapped in the beginning of the end
I can't see my blessings, Just my sins
They say don't look back my friend
Everything I can't remember
They took from me in disgrace
In their attempt to save the human race

Voices echoing in my head
Saying leave here before you're dead
Don't look back my friend
Her memory blows like the salt in the wind
Like salt in the wind

Divinely Mortal

Music carries sparks of holiness
From loftiest heavenly heights
We are entrusted, emotional souls
In joining that which is holy and profane
Creating immortality in sacred harmony

How could mere man have stolen
The most sacred song of the dawn?
Angels sing the chorus reverently
That masses now carelessly devour

Mortal voices arouse Divine Mercy
No other creation above or below
Has such power over their Creator
Riotous angels rage in defiant envy

Shameless theft of holiest melodies
Causes a rebellion the likes unseen
All the Celestial court calls for revenge
The Creator turns to them a deaf ear

Mortals have the potential for power
Greater than all of the heavenly host
A few have ascended alive to Heaven
The Creator has descended at prophet’s request

How can such temporary beings like people
Dare to make such demands of the Creator?
Only mortal physicality is fleeting because
Souls travel from Above to Below repeatedly

Humans are both mortal and divine
Made in the image of the Creator of All
Unlike angels, we have free will, choice
They have no existence past their singular tasks
People unite today and forever by living

RIGHT NOW

What am I left with?
A semaphore signal I don’t understand
some counter-force operating underhand
and a rocky faith
which keeps trying to tell me
“all is well”.
How can people be so damn sure?
I draw an open blank
and say “maybe … maybe not”
then cling to my cup of coffee
take a deep breath
and think “right now, this is what I’ve got”.

10 degrees of mortar

when I was a little girl
a man put his hand on my knee,
and I gave birth
to a wing'less butter'fly
with a scorpion
for its tongue
now I have poison in my hair
and an entrail
of an un'digested love
karaoke'ing with a maggot smoking a cigarette;

it's in a cathouse
where a good lynching
can hi'jack your heart through
the heart'beat of a mushroom… and she
says that you have to read
between the lines
before the truth is backfilled
with mortar, and you become nothing
but a standing wall for the worker ants
to tunnel through… they're queen
wants to overthrow my queen'dom;

back to the maggot
smoking a cigarette … he just folded
with a pocket pair of two's, it's when
the river flows that he shoots the dealer
and the room fills with ether and mist

and somehow I am gravitating to you
like that song caught between a turbulence
and a mast;
and I am alone on a boat
listening to the killer sharks and the
killer whales fornicating within an uprising;
I back ore toward the universe
where my soul parallels with the sun
that bloom the flowers thriving
in a maggot's darkness …

yes,    that's me
                                      closing the gap

Twin Flames Sometimes Burn Apart

Chased through the very fabric of time
seen the sun rise in the east again in the west
witnessed tiamet plummet down
as the atlantians scratched their heads
scribe to the most high
fought wars for you died many more
that sacrificial goat on loves altar

Our story always the same
one runs
the other gives chase
on the prowl hungry like the wolves
remember little owl
write this day in the akashic records
when the sun kissed the moon
it was not the dish that ran off with her
but the night
for a chapter at least

Halo Wind

Herdsman of sky shall come
to find a drawing compass

Sky is opening
my eyes

Star crossed lover
Reach for me

Moving air
above and below
grounds

I walk amongst the living
sleeping under my
Hawthorn headstone

In palaced entrance
of earth, wind wakes
alone, at sea

Star crossed lover
my humble abode
is but virtue

All four chambers
tremble my heart
through your eyes

I see the five angles
forming, the five wounds
of Jesus

cruciifiction
Our
Pentagram
released

Is it not
a lonely place
where your body
sleeps
while your brain
decides
your fate
on the decisions
that your mind
creates
for your actions
to anticipate
the crying deep within
your inner ear
commonsense reason
sobbing
in loneliness
and fear

Is it not so
for your brain to live
it must help your body
and for your mind
to live
in the end
it must leave
your brain
to decay
alone
