The Sky’s the Limit

Fly,
Fly high without looking down because the sky’s the limit,
Spread your wings and take flight,
There are no boundaries to your imagination and spirit,
Look inside you and feel the light.

Dare,
Dare to venture because fortune tends to favor the bold,
Look forward with faith and take the leap,
Find the strength that has always been within your soul,
Chase the dreams surfacing from the deep.

Free,
Free yourself of all your fears and you will truly understand,
You are a gift that’s heaven sent,
Your beauty and talent have a destiny on a scale so grand,
Stars bare your name in the firmament.

Soar,
Soar in the great big blue because the possibilities are endless,
Live it well minute by minute,
Strive to be your best, have a motivation that is quenchless,
And remember that the sky’s the limit.

A Starry Night Wish

One starry starry night
I looked to the heavens and made a wish
For a true love to fulfill my life
But to this day true love has never come my way
Where in this lonely world is my chosen mate?
Is she a dusky dark eyed beauty from Bombay,
Or a pale blue-eyed woman from Norway?
If only I could find her before it’s too late
I’d move to the edge of the earth to be with her,
Hold her, love her, till the end of my last day
If only I knew where, if only the angels would share!
Till then I’ll keep looking up to the heavens at night
And wish upon every falling star for true love
Till the last star has fallen from the empty sky

NOTHING

In her dreams
She can walk
The length of the universe
It is nothing
So yes
It is easy enough
To bring us together

Caught

I caught one last scent of
Autumn’s leaves, and
stole a bird’s nest
as I left the woods to climb
upon the clouds.

Fly!
they’ve left their nest,
white-winged doves, and
so have I—

I am caught
in the doorway between seasons,
life, where
snow mounts heavily
in pockets of air, ready
to pop
and tumble
in a mad whirlwind
to Earth.

I cannot stop what’s coming, yet
I catch the colors, and
make them part of me.

Zephyrs run fingers through my hair
and pull me to the stars—
I can see Creation
as God, does, and
I am caught in its glory.

Xmas List
Santa man living in the northern sky
For Christmas bring my daddy home to I
It's been three long years since he died
And every night since mummy has cried
Cancer took him and I want him back
Don't you have room for him in your sack?
I don't want any other presents for me
Dearest Santa won't you hear my plea?

Thank you for your entry, DawnRaider. Writing about Christmas is definitely a different approach to this picture from what the other participants have written. Your poem was saddening and perfectly written as if from a child. Excellent work, DawnRaider.
