Scenery medley contrasts

Marshes and meadows
Sunshine and shadows

Gentle ripples on the calm river
Foaming rapids in white water

The jungle echoes eerily in the semi-darkness
In daylight creepy-crawlies cleared the mess.

Peasants toiling and pheasants scratching
as I spy a cricket somersaulting

The cactus the desert's prickly femme-fatale
elsewhere a lone leaf floats in the canal

Prairie dogs go popping
while hares go hopping
and ladies go shopping

Swans have formed a fine V-line
The flora too is divine
as bees nosedive in bee-line.

Siesta seizes birdlovers too
Thus they miss out on the hoopoe's song
For the hoopoe, it does not sing on cue
since a bird may sing anytime to woo.

Green herbs and white mushrooms
Ah, birdie plumes and floral blooms

What a medley eh of contrasting scenery
Evening twilight and dawning greenery

Ah, wherever you go nature's so panoramic
While we make and take pictures
God actually made what's so picturesque!

Sun Spots

The Sun feels good
upon my back.
It warms the chill away.

But should I venture
out at noon...
the Sunshine beating
down in June
will quickly turn my
tender hide to
chicharrones on the side.

Now, Mother swore that all my spots
were Angel kisses... not the pox...

That I was blessed with Camouflage
to hide the zits... conceal the flaws...
and hide a million sins, they say.
They've pride of place both night and day.

Mine show up best, though, late at night...
They flu-o-resce beneath black light!

The Sun feels good
upon my back...
It warms the chill away...

Summer

Summer here is all mixed up;
it's not our growing season... and
We're north of the Equator...
so we know that's not the reason why

We plant tomatos in November...
and pick them 'fore July...
Forget the lettuce and the kale
Come summer they will fry...

We live between the salty sea
and the desert, sere...
You'd never think so many different
critters could exist here.

Puma, Deer, Fox, Ja-ve-li-na... Skunk,
Co-yo-te, Deer.

By day Co-a-ti-mun-di's out.
Ringtail and 'Coon at night.
So there's enough for everyone
There is no need to fight...

Thunder

Your lightning bolts, as you approach,
still fill us all with wonder!
…until we hear you’re getting close!
Are you the god of thunder?

Flash across the summer sky
with fearsome din, intense!
Then, touch the ground from upon high!
We cower, no defense!

Jupiter, or maybe Thor?
You’ve gone by many names…
The last bolt made me cake my drawers!
…and, now the barn’s aflame!

I pray that you will leave me be
and get on your way!
Damn! You split my Walnut tree!
Celestial horseplay!

Who is the wind, who follows you?
I thought that Aura drowned?
That bitch is a tornado now?
She’s flattening our town!

You’ve left rubble in your wake
and blown down all the trees!
Please don’t return, for all our sakes,
until you’re just a breeze!

The summer weather’s turbulence
can take on many forms.
Mother Nature’s merciless
and loves her summer storms!

Summer Time Rhyme

Enriching my melanin with these solar beams
A real fiend for the summer & all that it brings
Green leaves on the trees improve the aesthetics
Blue instead of gray clouds mean they won't wet it

Emotionally invested in this type of nice weather
A July moon child so I couldn't ask for any better
Sunshine is so inspiring as it battles my depression
GOD's secret weapon to help alleviate my tension

Only things missing is shade & a glass of lemonade
Use to be hooping on these type of beautiful days
I'm getting old, decrepit & gray so I no longer play
I'm just being silly so pay no attention to what I say

Enjoy your day while we have this radiating sunshine
Hit the beach, lie on your stomach & feel the heat on your spine
It's about time that we got more than rain or snow
Although I know that tomorrow will end this show

SURFACE HEAT

The traveler's report perplexes
when he wrote of a visit to Texas
the season was Summer
the sun was out
but on the street there was no one about

Upon further investigation
and puzzled consternation
The people he found,
walking under the ground
in air conditioned elation

SUMMER MUSINGS

Once thrust into a Summer in Texas
You'll yearn to turn back to Spring
Intense heat, large bugs to vex us
Just hear the cicadas sing
