Poetry Contest

It is for those who always try but get only Dejection and Despair in Return. The poem should be of 12 lines and every second or fourth line must end with synchronized word. For example "Die-Fly." "Over-Cover". Like this.
The poem MUST reflect the true pain of Dejection and Despair.

Wendigo (competition entry) TW SELF HARM GRAPHIC

TW SELF HARM GRAPHIC

Desolation waves, to me
So I take a dull razor
Slice myself neatly, scored pork
Never been a big bleeder
This, darkest of nights, and it
Until now just a creeper
But under a starless sky
Yellow eyes cut from terror
'It's in my head right?' 'Maybe'
And all I know is prayer
Death, swiftly follow (quickly angel quickly)
Before I meet the hunger

QUEST

A dreary dusk has settled on my mind
The rain falls softly on my window pane,
As rain comes down upon my lonely heart
With thoughts of him like raindrops' coldest stain.

Why does the heart insist on this behest,
A weight that cannot test my agony
That cannot mend the gap we both endure
That will not give the answer in our need.

And so it goes throughout the gentle night
While I in mourning set aside my rest.
The drone of showers robs me of my peace
For keeping vigil in my tender quest.

Falling

They said that I had failed again
as I bled my woes upon the floor,
I had swallowed up a wealth of pain
and closed the waiting open door

I had cut my telephone line in two
as tears fell down upon my cheek
it was more than feeling a little blue
it was breaking down, becoming weak

oh, what a tangled web we weave
our threads of misery we do tether
our madness, we can never leave
to dwell in sadness, alone forever.

Something We Can No Longer See

The words that are painted on your lips.
I am so sorry… like somehow they are
Supposed to say something. An eclipse
And it is like every romance or star

Has gone to die for good. Forgive me for
Not being the one you wanted forever. I
Know that every once and a while a door
Was meant to be closed. A rose would die

That night like the sun without the rain
Or the moon without the stars. Forgive me,
But I cannot forgive you for leaving a stain
Where we were joined. I can no longer see.

Symptom*

My body had made a decision
Never thinking to talk to me first.
Preferring to dodge more derision,
Than be told the truth this is the worst.

Every week a new pain is risen
Like a faith I can never deny.
My life & Fate in a collision
With a subtle reminder to die.

It’s got to be just one more symptom
In another failed try to be well,
By my mind’s judgmental addictum
In my private world’s singular Hell.

*poet’s comment:
Re: the long-term debilitating effects of type 2 diabetes.

addictum (Latin)
Inflection of addictus (accusative masculine singular)
addictus (genitive addictī); (masc.)
A debt slave; a person who has been bound as a slave to his creditor.

Unreturned

I was in love with the idea of falling in love,
It eluded me so many times in so many ways,
And though I chased it I didn’t test the waters,
When I threw myself completely with a craze.

But I failed, filled with a feeling still reeling,
A passion sure to make anyone delighted,
Young with so much to live, so much to give,
Yet the emotion went quiet and unrequited.

So there I went, off into the dark unknown,
My heart forlorn with so much to share,
Burned when my love went unreturned,
My heart alone in dejection and despair.

there is no monopoly on being write

All music relayers are attuned to their inner keyboard
Angry past time haters out of key with an inner bend
A new light to see your spine ringing a common chord
As it shines through the trees of your mindscaping end...

Any path that the mystic walks is just touching earth
All unbalanced and befuddled minds are grinding dirt
A head anonymous file transfer protocol type of mirth
After they can not comprehend as the mysteries assert...

Act of a unfolding soul not through man-made time
Any old crank never ventures far beyond self thought
As a heart spun spirit will truly live their own paradigm
A bringer of sunshine may also make it rain --- as a plot...

But..our flaws are but sexy edges through the eyes of our lover...

Blue Devils

laying on my bed, looking at the ceiling with a hopeless mind
my eye lids are getting heavy, tired from the world
my face is sagging, by the gravity of life
my breathing is getting slower, but my anemic heart drums on faster and faster
my voice is lost, just a monotonous sound
talking to myself, with no one around

listening to this angelic symphony, that's being played effortlessly
listening to it to feel something, sad or even angry
but not feeling anything, when I hear it, nothing is surfacing
cause my happiness got lost with my innocence
and my pain exceeded my expectance
it doesn't hurt anymore, just sediments of num feelings floating

I have come to a halt, frozen, and getting colder
the voices inside my head are getting louder and louder
go on! do it! you're better off dead and you know it!
tilting my head to look, at the razor blade on the table in front
then screaming into my pillow to out shout their plangent roar
they are dragging this moment of weakness to a point of no return
and this time they might actually win

then it will come, the lonely departure
leaving an invisible mark on the world.

It’s taken me a few minutes to collect myself, discovering in my Updates the final results of a public vote, that I kept reading & rereading.  The trophy - I blink & rub my eyes.  I proceeded to read everyone’s entries.  And mine, about what I live with everyday.  And then the struggle... and my poem voted for first... it overwhelms me for a few minutes as I wept for a moment then breathe......

I thank you for the honor,
