Dead Poet, Society.

In the quarter moon
an entire
bookshelf
lies
lost

dormant
space
in a cyber village

.
:
;

In appreciation for ten years of solid
reading
gold

I present
Journal Entry 1018
(You're invited to a speed read)

clouds
burst
darkness
no
silver linings
golden ends
or
treasures
sparkling
rainbows

Christ spare
a moment
to apreciate
a nomad
warrior

(they call it
mobile living)
and it's spacious
with
campfire stories

Untill she fills
the driving
seat
well, then
[and only then]
it drives
like
a Twin Cam
with a
Free flow
screaming
Fuck You
to the
wind

smacking
a hold down
in
the
corner
flooring
steel
to the
metal
enroute
a bar,
jukebox
and
closing time

slapping a
handbreak
- a 180
middle
finger
at
Society;
because
see

FUCK YOU

and ME!

we took
it
commercialized
and
gang raped
the
essence
of that
damn
park
[we drove through]
when the
table
hit
the
goddamn
windscreen
while
the woman
owned
Kings
daughter's
clowns
and
courts

Sewing Buttons

Each submission, considerable revenue
payment for poems does rapidly accrue
expression through composed lyrical phrases
fanciful buttons accepted gratefully as wages
for use of words as illustration
unexpected, valued, compensation
earnings applied, instantaneously in trade
thoughtful responses begin to cascade
frequently following emotions bared
identification, similar experiences shared
compliments obtained surely provide
confidence, encouraging a sense of pride
critiques redeemed, growing attentively inspired
through instruction, knowledge ardently acquired
perhaps the most precious of transfers
occurs when searching for profound answers
as a soul on its knees in complete despair
offers cathartic writing, affording repair

Oh Dear Professor Wiggens

Gears and bearings were grinding
all attempts at lubrication
had been in vain
The large
handle
at the end
of the bright copper urn
was vibrating
like an unbalanced
propeller

Wiggens sighed
wiped the persperation from his brow
in a polishing action
with his rather old
frayed, grey hankychief
[which may have been white, fifteen or twenty years ago]
Then he yelled
"Bring me a strong black Americano, Mr Barrister!"
he kicked the urn
with a resounding
"gong"!
Which echoed through the factory
like a call to prayer
in a Monistory

I liked Wiggens
or
"Professor Wiggens" as he liked
to be addressed
Felt sorry for the old bastard!
It's 45 years ago
that he built this damn factory
which went so wrong;
Well it didn't really
go wrong, completely
Production is extremely high!

Anyway
Wiggens drinks 24 to 26 cups
of Americano coffee
every day
He has done for 45 years

This factory
Well this factory
with all It's steam
and handles
glass, copper pipe
urns
cogs
bearings
wood

Was meant to
manufacture coffee
lots
and lots
of strong coffee
You see, Wiggens
completely fucked up
the design
as a result
he has been pumping
out
fourty to fifty
thousand
poems a day

No topic
no style
no catagory
no form

It just pumps them out!

It's not that bad, really
Except that Wiggens
really does
love coffee

He also
really can't stand

poetry

30. The Poem Factory : Write about a so-called eccentric genius who mass produces poetry in his ginormous factory filled with amazing technological gadgetry that unfortunately churns out poems with no originality.

I assume having not seen a rule to the contrary, that one can write more than one poem using a single prompt?

Loving this stuff btw!

Candy ass

As night slow-gestures from my prose,
There’s nothing I know that comes close;

The second dumpster to the right,
And straight on till the morning light.

There’s no sunrise can shed its night,
A sunset in the throes of flight,

That holds a promise near in debt,
A mutt that shakes its fur of wet.

As envied as the honored vet:
He’s known by other prison con
As zip code two four six O one,

Who keeps the neck up on his coats.
He’s thick brown lager beer that floats,

I’m light weight like a Sloe Gin Fizz.
I write soft soap compared to his,

All froth & foam that cleans & clears
All things away then disappears.

Leaves nothing left not even smells.
My verse reveals, his never tells.

In night affairs, between the drinks,
The disappointments’ broken chinks

Are scattered ‘cross the angry bed
Of matted noir that runnels red.

I watch afar, Bukowski grit
In fascination I’ll admit,

My reputation, and a pass
Says poet who writes candy ass.

To shiver with appreciate
While gazing up between the grate.

Let out the tender... bastard then,
When dank and darkness settles in
With plaintive cry, Where have you been?

Recalling what they said in school
As if it were the Golden Rule:
There’s candy in the dumpster too!

Prisoner 2339

They call her Bazooka
Her tits
are so big, you could
load the entire
kitchen mess
on them
and it would balance
quite
comfortably

Bazooka walks around like
she's housing
the entire
erotica section
under her
arm pits
[It's one of those things
once you've seen it, you can't unsee it]

In the first section
closest to the wash room
are the women
who write
love stories
like they're
text messages
on a WhatsApp group
One emoji in a poem
and section one's
gates
will slam shut
on your ass
Bazooka doesn't seem
to angry
at them, though
I'm sure it's the
wide range of lace thongs
that keeps her smiling

In section two
are the masochists
Damn I'm glad I missed that!
One missing line break
and Bazooka
will tie your ankles
to the cell gates
Use your own leather
on your skin
'till you
remember the
safe word
or
age restriction

I'm prissoner 2339
Nestled in section three
all on my own
Beaten twice daily
often suffocated
Frankly
I take it back
I take back
my ridiculous
use
of the word
"AND"

Now will someone
tell Bazooka
it's not
that bad
and...

;)

Will You?

Write some fucking poetry
will you?
Add a fucking location
protaganist
and a half assed story line
Load it
full of
metaphors
similies
alliteration
and
some fucking
raw
real
life

We're sick
of your soppy
love crap
The wind
trees
rivers
and birds

Just write some fucking poetry
will you?
end
the damn trite
you spew!
No one really
cares
how late you were
last night
or if you ate
oxtail
stew

Oh for Fuck sake
write some
fucking
poetry,
will you?

Use that
fucking artist's
eye;
slam
abstract
in the words
you paint;
make
the grammar
tight!

Jelly Bean

Boy, you want that trophy BAD.
Yah, you heard just what I said.
But do you know what I mean,
Jelly bean?

Your path to success
Is how you express

Reads the magnet on your ‘fridge.
You got me, Stonewall?

Boy you got a nerve,
And it’s mine, ya perve!

So you go fly a kite!
Who told you you could write?

Your pet turtle named Myrtle.
But that’s an insult to turtles,
Right!

When do you find time to compose
With index finger up your ass

Or your nose?  Only Kleenex knows,
While wannabe is passin’ gas.

I wager things get really tense,
Though tenses in one-stanza verse,

Future and past, what could be worse,
To write with head that’s so IMMENSE!

How DO you get through salad days?
The way you write, it never pays!

Moon Child
( for LunasChild8 )

Each night of overcast protection
When the air is filled with coastal haze,
Light of fair orb’s rising reflection
Is seeking while hidden from my gaze.

She graces each day, ev’ry ev’ning,
Hoping notes of my love she will find.
Sending tears of stars while believing,
Praying for my words the sweet’st kind.

I peer in the mist for my ember,
As my thoughts tell her listen be still.
On nights you think I won’t remember,
But of course, dear child, I always will.

My love, Moon’s affection, I’ve missed you
As the tides in me still ebb & flow.
How can I cease doing what’s nat’ural
While your Mother’s embrace tells me so?

For until there’s nothing left to scribe,
Till the restless tides give in, and die.

Guess what I’m doing NOW?
(Jade Tiger visits RevolutionAL in South Africa!)

I roar & romp right up to Al’s front door
And pose w’ paws on hips growlin’ his name.
He peeks a crack & blinks then hits the floor,
I push aside the plants and grab his frame!

I pounce upon Al’s bod' as he cries "OW!”,
There's no use to object, the signs are clear.
I'm hungry for some cow, I want it now,
You can't deny the fact Ms Tiger’s HERE.

Go throw some veggies on the bar-b-que.
I'll eat the steak half raw, then I'll have you!

But after conversation with my friend
I knew for Al this wouldn’t be th’ end.

I never knew you had a flair to cook!
You should compose your food like poetry.
I’ll help to sponsor your first gourmet book,
Then everything you’ll write by recipe!

So what brought you here to th’ southern most,
The continent ain’t big enough for you?
That’s why the Africans all tend to boast,
When you “arrive” then they’ll be famous too!

I guess I can’t eat you after my steak
With all the topics that I love to push.
I need someone to conversation make,
Your family are all hiding in th’ bush!

Well do I get the job? I’ll start right now.
I’m worth my weight in hamburger of cow!

Polyamorous With A Family

Sometimes, a man has to write
what
a man has to write
He could slap it
in erotic
Choose self
slam an observation
call it love
if you lucky
He'll add it to dark
and
tag it erotic

Or he may
just go completely metalic
and green

Truth is
When a man has to write
what a man
has to write
It's not what's
written between
the < Title>
and < / end>
that counts for shit

See a man with a book
and an eye
for
the feline
will
close
the poem
naked

Just to fit a last line
that leaves
our flogger
cuffs
hot wax
nipple clamps
and
electronic shocker
encrypted
while you hang from galvanised chains

I only got around to copying my first my prompt-inspired poem to this thread, so I'm posting the remaining three together.

---------------------------------------------------

echo of hope

(inspired by Hope is the Thing with Feathers by Emily Dickinson, and prompt #5: Poetry)

my hope has lost its feathers
it's quite the piteous sight
locked inside my lonely soul
hungering for flight

its body bruised and battered
its tender wings plucked bare
exposed to stormy wind and rain
struggling through frigid air

my hope has lost its voice
from singing for too long
but still it nests atop my heart
dreaming of its song

I hear it echo ever faint
though thunder rules the night
my hope has lost its feathers
but not its will to fight

-----------------------------------------------------

Poetry Fairy

She fluttered my way, one
Sunday afternoon,
as I sat feeding ducks
by Lake Linda

Her gorgeous green eyes –
her deep scarlet wings –
her glittering dress –
she intrigued me.

Her voice sang out
in perfect verse,
calling poetically, magically...
inviting me into her story:

   “Write with me
   Come on a journey
I'll show you how to be free

   “Black ink
   Carefully penned
   Follow my lead, my friend

   “Write with me
   Explore your mind
   Share the discoveries you find

   “Don't hesitate
   Just jump straight in
Before it's too late to begin

   “Write with me
   I'll cheer you through
Just help me out on my path, too”

Flutter on, little fairy,
overflowing with energy and zest –
travel to countless new lands

I watched her fly deeper,
growing stronger, faster –
seeking out adventures
to never be erased….

And I took up a pen of my own

(For TheTravelingFairy, a beloved companion and encouragement in both my writing and my life)

(Inspired by Prompt #9: Poet)

--------------------------------------------------------------

Poet's Recruit

(Inspired by prompts #7 and #8)

poets, assemble –
take up your quill,
or pencil, or typewriter,
or whatever you will

gather around
and join in our fight
just bring perseverance
and desire to write

our mission simple:
one poem per day
come march with us;
waste no time with delay

our army diverse
some young, some old
all welcome to join
whether timid or bold

ready your minds
ideas prepared
inspiration kindled
encouragement shared

when our moment arrives
the trumpet will blast
we'll set off empowered
determined to last

the course isn't smooth
and may knock you back
but stand up stronger
and rejoin your track

poets, gather round
consider my word:
do you simply write?
or will you make yourself heard?

so speak across nations
embrace your chance –
displaying our confidence
in poetic dance

5. Poetry :  Write a poem "about a poem about a poem". For example, take a look at DUP member PoetsRevenge's 'Dark Fruit', inspired by two of Sylvia Plath's poems: 'Maenad' & 'Mirror'

Ode unto a Grecian Boxer

Why pour praise upon a vessel?
That cannot return in kind
and in your heart does it nestle
The sense you receive
For in static but not in situ
are such visions enticed from within
Captured in communal clay
much to your divine oriented chagrin
purposed the hoi polloi.

Too much is read with excess,
Enconjured atmosphere
Caused by misled missing impress
of bygone frivolities.
Waxing overly lyrical in lament
to unfeeling pottery
innovative and asinine as cement.

For thy fortune favours form
prioritizing the loftiest perfection
such restricted oligarchy
stymied throughout the refined collection.
That in turn can confound
as though unto the famed Gordian knot
complex in connotation
frustrating communication thought.

Yet similar appreciation
must assuredly proffered unto artistic
with sculptured contradictions
nonetheless inherently Hellenistic
that espouses the natural
extolling the virtues of flaw
enough to emphasize
exhibiting the human awe.

18. Prison : Write about DUP as a prison colony warehousing the most heinous poets serving run on sentences for their literary crimes against the Humanities. Madame Warden takes no shit from anyone.

Alphabet Arkham

Arrested answers assessing annoying anthologies
Bundled barbarically bursting bardic baileys
Caged condemned canto criminals
Detained diabolic depicters desist
Entrapped epic editors emit elegiac
Fiction friends federally facilitated forcefully
Genre generals grimly guarded gallingly
Hymnal haiku heroes hatefully held hereto
Interred improvisation interrogated
Jailhouse jingles jilted jest
Keepers keep Keats' keys kept kaput
Lyrical legends languish longingly labyrinths
Mandela manuscripts metaphorical mistreatment
Notebook names now nailed notoriously
Odes offend of obvious oppression
Perpetual prison penning painful puns
Quarantined quotes questionable quartered
Rehabilitate reflective recitals relentlessly
Satires serve severe solitary sentences
Translated themes tortured tenuously torment
Unpublished unrhymed uttered underground unheard
Verses verse violent vehement vaults vaingloriously
Written words woefully wardened without windows
Youthful Yeats yields yearning years
Zen zones zero zeal
