What lies ahead

I don't know if I believe in the supernatural
But I do think there's a realm of possibility where anything can happen though
So who knows , maybe a physic could tell what someone's future beholds
But not mine cause free will means I only see it as it unfolds
But I do have control of my direction
So I hope that mistakes I made become lessons
I feel blessed when I change a negative into a positive
Even if I die with nothing, I still had a life that I got to live
So I give thanks to the one who created a man
Even though the things I'm faced with I don't understand
Nothing can defeat me cause my soul existence is an upper hand
So my future plan is to be more humble than I am
Look in the mirror and see a better version of myself everyday
Clearing the path I create so that there's nothing in my way
I wanna always remember to pray and never lose touch with faith
Cause knowing that no matter what happens I'll be fine
Is like having no fear, cause even the darkest of nights  surrenders to sunshine
Where I'll be at 20 years from now is a complete mystery
No need to waist time worrying about a future I can't forsee
That's like dwelling in the past, although you can't change history

Glory Be, To A Daughter

I shall pray you through, for
it is God’s hand, not a mother’s, who
whisks away ghosts of the mind.

My tears, exchanged
for yours, laden
with honey, gold dust
fluttering from your fingertips, and
diamonds rolling
from your tongue—a mere
sacrifice that you may wash
in the glory of “to be.”

I have kicked stones
from my road, allowing
passage—
rise up, daughter, see
clearings beyond your pebbles
and boulders.

I see you,
I see you there—
afar in light, smiling;
I take your hand
and walk into Hope.

To My Future Children

To My Future Daughter...

I hope that you find someone who not only
Worships your body, but also your soul and
Everything about you. You are not made to
Only give him pleasure. When you are lonely,
You feel like someone will misunderstand
You. Do not be tempted to make the sky blue
Or make a home out of someone else’s body
Until you understand the universe inside of
You because although it tends to tilt, swirl,
And change it is still your essence. Embody
Your faults and fissures. You possess a love
Filled with stars. You are no longer the girl
I once held in my arms, but you have become
A woman with a mind and opinions. Speak
Your truth and never let anyone or anything
Hold you back. Darling, you have come from
A mother who gave you the world, so seek
And keep exploring it too. Never stop. Sing
Your song at the top of your lungs. Smile.
Laugh. Cry. Learn. I hope that you grow as
Tall like beautiful sunflowers. Be witty.
I hope you will walk and run every mile
That tries to keep you from your topaz-
Sparkling world like the Emerald City.

To My Future Son...

I hope that you are always giving the respect
Women deserve. I hope you become a man
Who loves their smart minds and not just their
Bodies. I hope what you give should not collect
Like raindrops and be fully forgotten, but can
Be used to water those sunflowers. Be the air
That they can trust. Do not be selfish in giving
Everyone the love they deserve and love hard,
But do not become a hallow shell. A woman will
Love you for being yourself. Always be forgiving
Of her past mistakes because she will be scarred
And flawed, not always perfect. Chase your thrill,
But never forget any of her dreams or aspirations.

To My Future Daughter or Son...

Never let anyone take away your foundations.

Lisa Rose

Lisa Rose
Pretty blue eyes
Little runny nose
Copper angel hair
Little chubby toes

Enchanting charisma
She just glows
Like a poet’s river
She just flows

Hey little baby
Whatcha gonna be
When you grow up
Please remember me

Where you came from
Tells you where you go
Look to the mountains
That feed your river flow

Hey little baby
Remember who you are
Because that simple truth will get you far
Combined with creative, artistic liberty
You’ll flow out as what your meant to be

Your Children's
Future

Once
what you
and your family
need
has become
Privatized
you have now become
Corporationalized
Institutionalized
no hope
no home
like the slaves of old
no matter your skin
Yet
we can see
the road ahead
and we
just bitch
whine and moan
while our children
are tought
within the state schools
on how to acquire
the mentality
of a chimpanzee
where the pretty ones
in children's homes
are groomed
to be raped
of their Innorcence
for the pleasure
of your
government

Future Slaves

What will you do
when
you have run out
of excuses
what will you say
when that day
you secretly dread
arrives
the day
when your child
looks deep
within your eyes
watching
your silent tears
of betrayal
when they ask
the dreaded question
why
did you
forsake Me

Unconditionally

In the little boy's blue eyes
Reflected back a woman with
Chestnut hair and glowing green irises.

He remembered that morning,
When he woke up with her cooing in his ear
Singing him awake with a thumb rubbing his cheek.
She smiled,
"Good morning, sleepyhead,"
"I had a dream last night!"
Holding her hand, words tripping over his tongue
Telling a tale of cats and monsters and knights.

Then yesterday,
When he broke her favorite necklace,
An accident,
And she just picked it up, placed it in a box,
Getting on her knees to hold his hands
And meet his gaze, as he looked
Tearfully at her.
"I know you didn't mean harm. It's okay.
Just be more careful next time."
And a kiss on the forehead,
A tissue wiping away his tears.

As they travelled through states
He realized he left
His stuffed animal, a blue lion
And with a glance at her watch,
Turned the car around.
"Where'd you leave it? Oregon?
That's okay. This is more important than being on time."
Later,
He named it after something that reminded
Him of her.

Last year,
She never slept
Circles under her eyes,
And he would never tell
But he saw her crying in her room
When she thought he was sleeping.
Yet, every time he cried, or had
A nightmare,
She'd hold him, and whisper,
"You'll be okay. And it's okay to be sad sometimes.
I will never be too busy for you."
And she'd ignore her own darkness
To give him light.

On his second birthday,
She sold her bracelet for a cupcake and his present,
Dancing with him
Sparkling cider in their glasses
And radio singing a tune.
She picked him up and threw him
Into the air,
As he laughed,
From his lips slipped
"Mom,
Mommy,"
Her heart skipped,
Life rushing again through her once
Drained breath.

The minute she held him in her arms,
Everything blurred.
His blue eyes meeting her green
As the last snowflake on her skin
Melted.
'We made it,
It'll be okay,"
Tears dripping from her eyelashes
And love flooding her system.
The knowledge that she'd willingly
Suffer hell to never see harm
Come to his fragile body and mind.

The day she took the test,
And the world stopped.
Alcohol in her blood
Drugs in the air
Lungs giving out.
She threw away her wine,
Destroyed her cigarettes,
Flushed her pills,
Dropped her toxicities,
Gave away her caffeine,
And began to heal.

"Mom?"

In the little boy's blue eyes
Reflected back a woman with
Chestnut hair and glowing green irises.
Whose hand held his
He shyly
Held up a dandelion,
And told her to make a wish.
She blew on it,
And kissed his hand,

"I already have it."
