wow! It's kind of difficult to say how I feel about this write.  Honest but harsh. well written but painful to read.  anyhow, I liked it.

Wishing For Innocence

I caught myself
Playing with my Legos, stuffed animals, and toys,
Yet,
The same joy
No longer had a home
In my young heart,
Chipped, and
Bruised.
So I locked
Them away,
Offering more than one
Longing glance
              Back
And felt my eyes
Lose their last
Glow

Rocky Transformation

We met at rock bottom points and among
The coldness there was just enough heat.
You always took advantage of all of my
Weak spots. Lies formed on your tongue
Like a two headed snake. It was a back seat
And door type of thing. The tears I would cry
Showed me that I could not do this anymore.
I could never be someone who came lower
And last on the list with excuses. I could not
Be that broken girl. I did not settle the score
Because what I had coming was a slower
Transformation while those lies caught
Up to you and karma came to you. Those
Sober apologies never arrived, but I forgave
You anyways because that helped me accept
That those memories would come to a close
And there are no more reasons why to cave
In. Everything is washed away and swept
Up. Someone like you is not meant to be kept.

The Last Thing That Was Said

I was strolling through the hospital wards
With basket of freshly made sandwiches
And single-serving green salad entrees
With Ranch dressing packs sealed in plastic wrap,
Apples, spring water & mango fruit juice.

I'd sell my wares at each nurse's station
To floor staff and ambulatory guests,
Always looking over shoulders, gazing
Into some of the semi-private rooms,
Sometimes hearing a person moaning low
Without a visitor to comfort them.

So one day, determined, when no one watched
I softly walked in room 312, bed B,
I set down my basket on a green chair
And went to stand by the side of the drapes
And listened to the patient's even breath.

I saw a senior lady sleeping there.
Her skin's pallor glowing in the dim light,
Her wavy white hair fluffy as cotton.
IV drip sliding saline from a bag
To hypo taped on the back of her hand
Boney and veiny with long fingernails.

I pulled up another green chair nearby
And scooted it close as I took a seat.
A nurse's aide came in to check the chart,
Took down the latest stats on a keyboard,
Heard the heart monitor's double-blip chirps.

The aide said "Your lunch order, Mrs. Crane."
The old lady stirred and murmured in pain
"No!  I can't stomach that hospital food."
The girl left, merging back out in the hall
While I turned to look back into her face
That grimaced, eyes flickered open at me.

I leaned and gave her a kind little smile
And said "Well hello there, how do you do?"
The daunted Mrs. Crane squinted and blinked
And knitted her brow in a frown, and spoke
"And who do I have the honor to meet?"

It was said sarcastically I knew that,
So I stood up to go get my basket
But instead of walking off in a huff
I turned 'round to show her my tasty stuff.
Oooh, her crusty eyes grew wide as she saw;
I hoped she could smell the turkey with cheese.

Returned, said "Let me give you one of these."
The stodgy old face went suddenly bright,
Hand shook as she grabbed the gourmet delight
And with that first bite I conversed with her,
I couldn't resist the joy that I felt.

So, each day, I'd set a time for our date
To bring her the treats she came to enjoy
Including the smiles my company brought,
The least I could do for my new-found friend
Who's time on this earth would one day soon end,
But till then was given quality time.

I'd learned early on her favorite dish
Was when I'd bring her from Baskin-Robbins
Her own pint of Jamoca Almond Fudge.
I'd spoon it to her, she'd offer me some,
And looked forward to each day that I'd come.

One day I showed with the pint in a bag
And saw how listless and quiet she was.
We chatted a while, well mostly I talked,
And told her about the weather outside
And wished that day we could go for a walk.
She spoke softly then and cradled my hand.

My eyes began to tear and burn a while,
And I said "I brought lunch, but most of all
I've got your favorite treat that you love best."
And dear Mrs. Crane, squeezing my hand, said
"Not just now, my dear girl, I need to rest."

the saga of transformation (pt. 1)

this world entered within me backwards and fleeting
a soul crushed and slated for destruction.

Ice & Fire

I had always loved the cold.
Greeted it warm like an old friend.
Welcomed it into my abode.
Always hoped that’s how my world would end.
There are glaciers in my bloodstream.
I exhale a winter breeze.
I perspire mist people mistake for steam.
My blood vessels tighten, it`s hard to breathe.
My heart is algid.
My tongue has frost bite.
My heart is pallid,
More like a block of ice.
My body is numb.
I can`t feel my toes.
I am not dumb.
My brain hasn`t froze.
This hypothermia seems pretty neat.
Uncontrollable chitter chatter,
I`ll be falling asleep.
What you say doesn`t matter.
Sorry if you thought I was sweet.
Too much ice cream on your platter,
will give you a brain freeze.
I`m a blizzard on Everest,
I`ll blow you away.
Yes I am temperate.
Summit death zone decay.
I shiver and I shake,
But I am nowhere near being nervous.
Surrounded by a lake.
I`m an ice berg, there is more beneath my surface.
Those that consider my 10% get sunk like titanic ships,
And I drink their tears on the rocks.
Know that 90% and give me your heart or friendship,
Then I will preserve them in my ice box.
Is this a cruel winter? Or a bon hiver?
Seasons change, here comes the summer.

See, when I wasn`t looking,
 My thermostat was tampered.
Someone is cooking,
A recipe for disaster.
But I love it`s smell.
Though I don`t fall for its face.
Ignored the smoke alarm and bells.
Got burned, but I loved the taste.
It was a spark on my tongue, seemed harmless.
Like the warmth of the sun felt through garment.
But it set off like a gun point on target.
Fireworks, interval at one, argument after argument.
Volcanic eruption, soon to extinction.
This passion is a fire that burns to its own destruction.
Now I am a supernova,
Beautiful and bright, but I`ll fade away.
I flush toxins, I am a sauna.
Deadly ultra violet rays.
I am a desert, are you an Iguana?
Can you adapt to this heat wave?
Or will you drown in this molten lava?
Explode in this microwave?
I am a fire, I`ll keep you warm,
Just as long as I don`t burn you.
A liar that will make you feel reborn,
If you don`t catch up to the truth.
From preservation in fridges,
Despite a winter day,
To burning several bridges,
That light the way.

And this fire keeps burning on
I tried to extinguish it
It kept burning on
You tried to extinguish it
It kept burning on
They tried to extinguish it
It kept burning on
I tried again
But it burns on and on.
