An Old Romantic

Every time I look at her
I’m taken to a magical dimension,
A connection from the very beginning,
Where the essence of beauty and love exist,
Not to mention the attraction is so palpable,
Intensely internal like eternal desires,
 Both carnal and mystical,
Something I just can’t resist.

To love her is a divine experience,
Like a spiritual adherence where
Reason and purpose are but a lost cause,
The feeling is so alive, I don’t know if I’m dreaming,
Or maybe I’m unaware of the reality,
That’s she’s mine because I asked her so.

Maybe I’m just an old romantic, frank and a bit frantic,
I get those heart palpitations when’s she’s near,
So sometimes I stay silent and reserved,
Because the words become colorful and stirred,
When my thoughts escape through whispers in her ear.

Lady in Red (by "god is in the rain")

My Lady in Red...
Today all in Black instead...
The Heart she bears...
Purest Red with her lips shares...
And her Iris, Gates into...
Red soul Grey Dyed...
To fit Grey world, To escape Blue view...
My Lady in Red - faking Pride...

When Heavens cry for her, we call it Rain...
While only White trees can see her Pain...
Hiding Red tears deep in her Eyes...
As everything she loves slowly dies...
As Despair she has to Eat...
When awake, when she's asleep...
Still smiling she strolls down the street...
With all her Secrets she has to keep...

Love from Mother no longer there...
Mystery she will not share...
Happy memories of the smile...
Bringing Hope thats mixed with Bile...
Hate for mother who had been...
For suicide - of Despair Art...
Through Days and Nights all Akin...
By both feelings Torn apart...

Love for Brother she's to care...
Of their Mother she took Chair...
Cooks him dinner, Helps with Math...
So very young she walks this Path...
Tell me Lady with no Time...
How could you grow up so fast...
Tell me Lady from the world that Rhyme...
Do you dare to long for past?

And Tell me Lady i Impose!
Tell me your name sang by Rose!
Once Greek Godness of Victory!
Now my Lady Hiding Misery...
Just as Roses you have Thorns!
But the second i saw you i fell in Love!
Now everything i long for mourns...
For Angel from Hell, Demon from Above...

With Raven she greets Dove...
So very much she Hates my Love...
Kind but disgusted by Kindness...
Longing for Light, but preferring Darkness...
That Blood runs through Her veins Too...
She will never Admit, She never Said...
Stays in Heart but walks from view...
Never my....
             .... Lady of Roses....
Never my....
             .... Lady in Red....

sorry if this contest takes long to judge, as now are the holidays: even the libraries are closing until next week.

Thank you much for the placing, I was happily surprised - congratulations to Atomik and especially to dear Oxy - what great company in which to find myself...

there's little surprise, my friend, as some entries' pieces weren't about love (but rather hatred) anyhow and so provided no competition. only a few poems discussed love, and i'm happy to have read them.
