Tranquility
Nothing but sea waves
and blood rushing through my veins;
I need no more sounds.
Nothing but sea waves
and blood rushing through my veins;
I need no more sounds.

Haiku #19 ...silence
moonlight...cool and clear
spills silently...across
pine-clad forest floors

Haiku #20... Stillness
desert sun
beats down at noon

Silence is a jewel
Worth savoring in its peace
Value and solace

New Moon Haiku🐅
( a renga of linked haiku/senryu )
the birth of spring moon —
sleep, like fresh buds unopened
stars reveal its shape
in woodland’s flicker,
early new leaves’ feathered hush
dark empty cabin
breath of a hunter
stalking, tracking, listening
for the little one
eyes of fei tsui
glare in new moon’s haunting
maternal resolve
quickens to the scent —
huntsman’s fear is not aware
as he closes in
the silence follows
inside the warm nursery lair
the noble child’s hiss
her prowl light as air,
the undergrowth has no voice
his mother pounces
fei tsui = pale green translucent jadeite stone of quality

Amorous_tryst said:Such a different angle to come at this comp from, one I did not even anticipate.
I shall seek some silence to contemplate the various reasons how this single word can be thought of depending in which part of the world one is born into. Quite the revolving perspective when seen from different eyes.
Thank you, cabcool, for this thought provoking piece.
I'm thankful for the affirmation, Amorous_tryst.
Indeed, the world can no longer be silent about silence.
The same idea came up when I studied experimental music eons ago: composers such as John Paynter (British) and John Cage (American) explored the notion that there was no more silence in the silence.
They built silences (rests) in their musical compositions so that incidental environmental and audience "noises" (sounds) could become part of the soundscape continuum.
Sincerely
cab
