                    What's in a Face

Here is the masquerade,
The deception in this visual aid
If only I had listen, taken heed
When I first glistened its image

Look deep, look long
In the mirror you’ll perceive
They told me and I believe
my reflection  will show
a stranger I wouldn’t  know

so I stared at my mirror
watching for the change
in the range of features.  Hoping to see
the stranger  that dwells within me.

Gazing intently until a creature did appear,
a cold shiver ran my spine,
when through  a shimmer it came, not divine

Frightening, aware, of the metamorphose
My religiose begged me to pray against
This thing others saw, when they look at me

What I beheld had brown eyes,  that
looked nothing like mine.  Her head supine
in an unheard laugh, yet I hadn’t made a move,
wanting to make a beeline, out this room.
But where would I go?

Her mouth twisted in a smirk, answering my question
A quirk that put me in a self-made nightshade
This  was no charade, I was truly afraid

Who I thought I was,
Was not me at all, but this other being
within my skin.

I should have never seen what lurks within
the human skin. What’s inside of me was not a friend.
But something else, this side of sin

She winked, and I knew
She would soon gain full control
Where then will I go, perhaps inside a black hole?

Don’t look too closely, try not to see
The stranger in the mirror,
watching, waiting, patiently.

Glynis thank you for participating.

poet Anonymous

I had this vision of Mother Jessica (Kou_Indigo) once, long, long before I knew who she was. It... changed me. And when I met her on here, I looked at her face and recognized her from my vision. That vision was a supernatrual one, and it made me who I am today! This poem is all about that vision and what my eyes beheld in it:

Knowledge of the Phoenix

Do you feel the caress of the autumn twilight?
As the maple trees of many colors do rustle…
Their leaves scattering across the grassy blight,
Beyond the reaches of the ruined Hara castle!
As the night moon shines, in pale illumination,
And the temple bells ring across distant vales…
The mountains rumble in some dire anticipation.
For, the dead walk again, and the spirit wails!

I see a prince who is also a princess, beautiful,
Raven black hair flowing, robes gauzy white…
And I was that one’s daughter, so worshipful!
I am to this day, and will follow, into the night.
The mountains seemed blue when I first beheld,
A vision of you riding across the ancient land…
To where your people struggled, died, and fell.
I fell with you, and time flowed like loose sand!

We died with regret, and so we had to return,
Across the centuries, far from our fallen bones!
Do the maple trees still rustle, spirits to yearn?
As they did when the smoke rose up in cones,
Forming the pyre from which I saw you rising.
Others saw you as I did, and they remember…
How beautiful you are, so graceful and gliding.
You raised me up also, from my dark slumber!

Does the phoenix know why it must soar?
It needs not know; it merely must be as it is.
You and I, we know and so we are more!
And in the knowledge we share, there is bliss.

Amazing poem, Laurie! Easily my favorite of the bunch thus far, but then again I'm biased when it comes to this one. *Giggle*

Broken Time

The disgruntled conscience of a sleepless imagination
The shattered hopes of a lost predilection
Caught in eternity, you can only survive
Time spent is wasted, watching everyone die

A realm less perfect, lost in forever
The touch of another, a constant torture
To love and lose, without any gain
To feel the hurt of death, a constant pain

The love we had, was misbegotten
The times that were shared, long since forgotten
I remember your face, but only barely
A kiss from your lips, quite unfairly

The warmth from your skin, now stone cold
The shine in your eyes, of green and gold
But you left me alone, so long ago
And I kept living, wishing I too could go

But it is my burden to continue on 'living'
To watch everyone around me, with their light fading
And when they are gone, their life completed
I just sit here alone, always the cheated

For I shant know death, or keep any love
I am always the crow, and never the dove
And while your heart slows, and mine beats on
You were ever my king, but I just a pawn.

悪魔の代弁者 akuma no daibensha

悪魔の代弁者 akuma no daibensha
"beware beware of guest brought here
And on the brink of hell may appear."
Of immoral men, who far excel
All th' inhabitants of hell.
let 'em in let 'em in
for the smell of burning skin.
here they will weep, a sorrow-some groan,
bodies decay and turn to stone.
sacrifices thee by soul, blood and lust.
randomness chant switch and adjust.
riches and happiness they deserve so well,
but they shall feel the hottest flames of hell.
eternal darkness of land that bring.
D.L.N the demons will sing.
"beware beware of guest brought here
And on the brink of hell may appear."

Poetryman aka JJ, I picked you the winner as your work was meticulously written; although the encounter was in a dream. Souladareatease, you have a great story there, although changed lives were not stressed on. Glynis, your story on a mirror twin was interesting. Kitsy Kat, Haruhi, Kumi, DexstaRay and Niko, as well as Lauren who has since left DUP, produced good interesting works , with great potentials. There are however spacious rooms for improvement.
