Another Ordinary Day

The river whored by many fingers sighs behind my back with every step
to my neatly sutured one hour slots,the fly-over being built for five years
badly needs funeral rites,before the homeless few die again in her underbelly.

Market wakes up with its morning stink, mangoes entice with botox smiles,
scratching groins some mouth smelly comments about mango-shaped breasts,i am deaf
again,worse are the ones with office-bags and oil-licked hair who 'happen'to hit your sides!

My prosaic shoes make wan love to dry gutters that were once a road,
nearing school,a vacant space on gravelheap left by the old man,who smiled my morning smiles,
just another ordinary day,time to buckle up for my normal colleagues who know it all.

One of your most well-wrought and organised pieces; each line melts into it's successor with clear intent and clarity. The images are perfect, my favourites being the river (a recurrent theme in your work, it seems) "whored by many fingers" and the dirty old men's remarks about "mango shaped breasts". Brilliantly encapsulates the dark tedium which underlines our everyday lives.
