Assisted Suicide

I scream into the dead of night, seeking answers from echoes lost alone in darkened silence,
Though I came here with every intention of stealing one last selfish moment for myself.
But I missed that chance as my own breathing unexpectedly began to slow and briefly come to a stop.
Memories now set out to consume me,
Slowly,
Following each and every shallow gasp.
This air is piercing the skin that’s portrayed itself as remains of my rotting flesh.
Calming bites of burning winds now subside to blowing quiet whispers
And all at once
Everything I feel blends in with the obscurity of my surroundings.
I lay down to watch for moment just as my vision’s beginning to blur to another shade of grey
Fading out, and all the while I’m still killing myself to fall away for an eternity.
Everything’s falling into perfect accord without the slightest hesitation
Deep and sharp
In tune with my heart as I borrow one last breath which never belonged to me-
It leaves in me a bitter taste of words sounding cold and stale, so I just let them cut the life that kept filling up these lungs.
The pain was meant to make a simple death quick..
But I know I deserved so much less.
