we are lovers and liars

separated by something called distance
which is realy just space/time expanded
with a worthless million molecules
(that no one really understands anyway)
and a hopeless million other souls
who may be neighbors
but in their own separate cells
and hells
because even standing an inch away
no one really understands the other
though we pass by
and smile
and cordially say: "hello how are you"
and we always reply "fine"
even though we're all crying inside
and have learned to hate that smile
because it was always a liar
and it was never convincing to anyone anyway

Sombre reflection on the darker side of the human condition, and how we are really all just random particles drifting through existence with no purpose or meaning. The title intrigued me, as did your surprisingly delicate composition this time. Each line well-wrought and stuffed with the bitterness that only you can convey so well.

perhaps we have a purpose and perhaps not.. that's why I'm an agnostic.. I believe something bigger's going on in this strange soup we swim in called life.. I just have no idea what that is.. always a pleasure reading your poetic comments cheers bud
