Yesterdays children

Yesterday's children
are now teaching mine
and when I see old classmates
balding and bloated
it makes me want to
re-invent god
and create a new language -
We're dieing together
while the youth
stand more erect every evening,
a perpetual regeneration that is
exhausting mother.
Now, even my own
vision of beauty
wears black and walks alone
with her seductive sunken eyes

wow Steven, i cant really express how much i love this, there is not one thing that strikes an odd note here.With great precision you draw a heartbreaking view of life, truth itself of life in beautifully crafted verse.The final lines have that liquid feel only great poetry has.Brilliant!

...I wish could reinvent God, myself Steven - sadly we all have to come to terms with the same demons that stalk everyone. Enjoyable look at something which happens to us all.
