Ben and I drink ourselves out of here..

Ben and I are dying to escape
we are drinking bulleit whiskey to be free from this madness,
the madness of romance, noise and glass.
at the last frontier
we don't belong, but at last
the alcohol begins to lift us above and beyond this hell
so we bodysurf above the vomit sticky floor
and listen to the bar chatter radio tell us
that this will be the longest night

The alcohol floats us above the sea of twisted heads
and we see nothing but nuisance, violation, and love
in this heavy Friday air
while ultraviolet flashes bathe our flight
I avert my gaze, noticing in Bens eyes
a salient blue that dies and fails
in desperation, drowned in bourbon
an instant and clear recognition that all this alcohol
will make tomorrow the eternal day

the dark shade you have given to this poem,the bodysurfing part, the urge to escape, and the final probably ironical judgement of 'eternal day', make it a very captivating read.

Lol, we had drunk a few too many bulleits when I wrote this, so as a consequence I guess it is a little bit 'wibbly wobbly'!

Have you ever been in a bar or club and had that thought 'I'm too old for this!'....
