THE LUNCHBOX OF LIFE

The world is excitement, the world is pain
The world is laughter, the world is insane
The weight of the world is on my mind
The torrents, the floods, the downloads
The tides

I ask for respite, but I hear silence
But that's alright, since of late
I'm less demanding of life, have more insight

But pain still feels painful
When the needle is increased
I tend to complain, ignore or just plain sleep

A few brief years, then the curtain falls
I have fewer fears, now that I know
How simple is the universe
And how it flows
I simply have to listen to songs that say
"Just let it go"

Patience is a virtue, but it's source is an enigma
Where do I find its liquid content
To fill up my veins?

My drug of choice is entertainment
And ongoing fridge raids
Rather than spirits or weed
Or whatever new powder or pills
There are to be had

Through this conscious act of meditation
This mindfulness of a science-leaning mind
I drink in the moment and find
My solutions, in the lunchbox of life
Wherever they may be found . . .
