Family of Personalities

Why is the young doctor a doctor?
How did he/she get to where they are now?
Because somebody encouraged him/her.
Perhaps over and over and over again.
Why are other youngsters doing drugs, wasting time?
Probably because the (potential) encouragers are AWOL.

If you have no one to encourage you, you have to do it yourself.
Divide yourself into two people: one to be the parent,
The other to just be you, yourself, the forever-teenager, OK?
The boss has to set standards for the wayward kid.
The two sides of you can learn to get along.
Just learn to cooperate with your internal "alter ego."
You can learn to forgive the "tyrant' who makes demands.
In return, the tyrant can show patience to that side of you
that makes the same mistakes over and over again.

Really, now that I think about it, we don't have be just two people !!
Wow, what a breakthru, we can each be a FAMILY of different personalities,
All contained within the same body -
Like a tree trunk supporting many different branches,
Each one pointing to the sky, but in a different direction.

If you are having a crisis, let the pressure push you forward,
Not backward, up not down, - split up once and maybe even twice.
Become a GANG of encouragers to the part of you that is down.
There's strength in numbers, and like Solomon says,
"two heads are better than one" (Ecclesiastes 4.9).
Maybe that goes for (multiple)personalities too, within the same person.
And if two are better than one, what about four ??
The more, the merrier !! Ooh, wee - party time !!

PS: one personality within you can speak with a French accent,
While another does a British or even Australian,
While still another is a good ole boy with a Southern drawl.
Oh what a pleasant conversation might be had !!

you didn't know I speak French, did you?
