WORDS HAVE POWER

 Words can be anything,
And anyone can say words,
All words have meaning,
The impact varies from person to person,
But the meaning remains,
Never underestimate the power of words.

My teacher said you can’t do it,
You’ll fail through it
My friends laughed when I told them,
They said I’ll just end up in a den,
And my parents, they said nothing,
From that point on I looked at life in a new perspective,
Taught to see the glass half empty,
Taught to see the bad in the best people,
Taught that the world was unfair,
There was no way to prepare,
I was destined to live in despair,
What I knew deep down was that I wasn’t good enough,
Never underestimate the power of words.
I fell in love with a girl named alcohol,
Cheated on her with a spinster by the name of cigarettes,
I then met a better looking girl called weed,
This was my life,
My relationships,
Three years down the line,
Alcohol divorced me and my body was left addicted,
Cigarettes found out about alcohol and now I’m alone with cancer,
My lady by the name weed left me soon after,
Now I’m poor.
Never underestimate the power of words.

I’m all alone,
Broken,
Poor,
Suffering from withdrawals,
Suicidal thoughts are the order of the day,
For this was the price I had to pay.
I then met a man,
He told me these things,
What if you knew not to let someone’s opinion of you become your reality,
What if you knew that if someone tells you you cannot do it?
It means they tried and failed,
What if you knew not to let anyone talk you down?
What if you knew that it’s not too late?
What if you knew to do what they won’t do today?
So that you can do what they can’t tomorrow,
He then held my hand and showed the jungle of society,
He said walk,
I said what path do I take?
He replied none,
Make your own path,
Leave a trail to be followed.
