Hi all lyricists and poets.
First off let me just say that I don't think I'm any capital "L" lyricist or "P" poet. This is just a note about what happened to me and a warning. If in the end I'm wrong then I apologize but this is what happened to me just a few days ago.
This is about a guy on here named Doomland who may approach you and comment on how much he likes your work. He’ll ask for help with writing songs for his death metal band, or whatever he’s saying now, and ask for your help.
He’ll give you a couple of his rough ideas that he’s been working on and ask you to write something for him. If you, like I did, fall for his line and actually write something he’s likely to say he loves it and wants to continue the collaboration with you. He will tell you he’ll write you again tomorrow and if he plays the same game with you as he did with me, he never will.
If you go to his homepage you'll see that he's never posted anything and I doubt he ever will. He's fishing.
In my opinion he’s just trying to build up a bunch of lyrics to either use with his band or just post somewhere else in his name.
I can’t say for sure he’s a weasel but I’d have to say that if he acts like one he probably is. If I were any of you I’d approach anything you receive from him with the caution I never used.
My mistake. Don’t make it yours.

You beat me to the punch Gabriel. Curiously, shortly after I posted this online I got a message from him saying he was genuine. I wonder about the timing myself but time will tell, and a dearth of details about him make me wonder.
Also, thank you for not beating me up about name calling here. I waited days for an answer before resorting to this.

hmmmn, maybe do a Google search of the lyrics you sent and see if they come up anywhere.

generally, naming members in posts isn't really encouraged, though its clear you're being balanced in your thoughts, be careful in the context of defamation n such legal stuff

I waited for six days for an answer from him before posting this. Giving him more than ample time to keep his word I thought. The lyrics are already posted here as they have been for a week as I wanted them to be seen as being mine, based on his original thoughts. I forgot to post that fact in the original but quickly rectified that in a comment that alas was beaten by another. I wanted a straight line back to me if they were used in the context that he wanted to use them in, an album or disc, whether changed or not.
I was sorry to have to name him but saw no recourse after so long a time and not wanting others to be used if in fact that was his want.
The lyrics are called Doomland, so that he might easily find them, quickly written (within an hour I think) since it would end up being a first draft in all likelihood and I just wanted to give him the flavor of what I write.

Oh. This seems so noteworthy. Anyhow; I thought it worthmentioning to narrate briefly this: the word (doom) reminded me of that land -of -judgment -day on which all creations are gathered for reward is termed insomniac in some holly book. May b as alluding to (livelong)stay. Best regards.Ali
