Dream big!

Dream big!
We all have an image, of what our lives or rather how we hope our lives will turn out. What will we be remembered for? Will we be remembered at all? And what are we doing to achieve these dream lives? We make sacrifices, deny our own dreams (in some cases) to help someone achieve theirs, we are faced with responsibilities that bind us, to jobs, places and people we don’t want to be around. Well it is never too late to chase your dreams.
“About a hundred years ago, a man looked at the morning newspaper and to his surprise and horror, read his name in the obituary column. The news papers had reported the death of the wrong person by mistake. His first response was shock. Am I here or there? When he regained his composure, his second thought was to find out what people had said about him. The obituary read, "Dynamite King Dies." And also "He was the merchant of death." This man was the inventor of dynamite and when he read the words "merchant of death," he asked himself a question, "Is this how I am going to be remembered?" He got in touch with his feelings and decided that this was not the way he wanted to be remembered, he realized that it’s never too late to live the life you dreamed of. From that day on, he started working toward peace. His name was Alfred Nobel and he is remembered today by the great Nobel Prize”.
Here is a little known story of a world renowned figure who wanted to be known for the right reasons. And that goes to show that no matter if we are in school dreaming of becoming a pilot, in college fighting for green peace, or middle aged and wanting a change. The dreamer is always alive within us we might have forgotten where we were headed but he knows. So breath a little life back in to your dreams, because a dream life is the least you deserve.
“Like another great man Manny Pacquiao a boxing legend and a household name in his home country of the Philippines Pacquiao is hailed as the current pound for pound best boxer in the world, currently owning 6 world boxing titles and being an active politician in the Philippines.   Manny has really had to fight his way up from the bottom. Born of a typical poverty-stricken Filipino family, Manny Pacquiao left elementary school when his father left his mother to be with another woman. As an out of school boy, he helped his mom by selling breads and homemade doughnuts peddling the streets of General Santos City. Yet from a young age he decided on his goal to be the best boxer in the world, when not wandering the streets to sell his merchandise, he would be seen training and travelling to nearing villages to compete in boxing matches. At the age of 16 he got a break, he was invited to Manila where he devoted himself entirely to his dream of boxing. It did not take long before he got his World Champion title on December 24, 1998 at a very early age of 19 when he defeated Chatchai Sasakul, the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) World Flyweight Champion at that time. Since then he has never looked back and his Boxing career was in the fast lane to the top. Boxing became a way for him to turn his life around, and there's no doubt that it worked. Pacquiao has become something of a national legend, even becoming the first athlete to appear on a Philippines postage stamp. He has the distinction of being the only boxer to ever win world titles in eight different weight divisions and is considered one of the best boxers of his generation.”
All it takes to turn your life around is a dream and the conviction to see it through. If we look around us there are hundreds of people that have overcome the hardest of odds and yet have got to the top be it in any field they desire.

Be clear about what you want!
Take the time off to really think about it we all want to be rich or famous but you really have to stop for and think what would your dream life be like?
For example, I knew a business executive who had started freelancing as a small business consultant. His thinking was simple. Since he was just starting out, he should ask for a smaller fee until he built up more experience and industry knowledge. It all seems reasonable in theory, but put into practice reveals a different story. No one wanted to hire him.
After close examination of similar competitors, he realized the key difference. Everyone else was asking for much bigger fees. There seemed to be a correlation between what people asked for and their perceived value. Once he raised his fees, his work increased. The only thing he changed was his asking price.
Here it was simply the case of asking for more, not just from others but also from yourself. You are the one determine your own worth. If you’re not pushing yourself about what you can do, you’ll never know what your limits are. In fact, you’ll probably find that you really don’t have any limits. If you ask more of yourself on a regular basis, you’ll get more.

Aim high! It’s good for you!
Confucius once said “If you shoot for the stars and hit the moon, it’s OK. Some of us live our lives to scared to try. Set your goals high as someone pursues one of those goals, they may push themselves to heights they normally wouldn’t see. Someone who dreams of being the president may reach the level of MLA. Which might not be exactly what you aimed for but it is an impressive achievement as well. “If you shoot for the stars and hit the moon, it’s OK.
Dream big, live big!
All of the greatest achievements in human history have come about through the process of dreaming big. Space travel, Electronics and medicine are some of the Dreams that have been achieved. And so we shall see more marvels as time goes by more monuments to the people that dreamed be it the next apple Inc, Usain Bolt, Enzo Ferrari  or something I can’t yet dream off. The world is ever changing to the tune of those who live the Dream!
