What I've Weathered
One day I will turn away from the sunset and walk into that good night
Embracing the darkness enveloping my skin
And I will remember the warmth of the sunshine on my face
Illuminating me from within
I will remember the rain washing away my tragedies
Allowing me to start anew
I will remember the snows bitter cold
Freezing everything it touches for a moment in time
Giving me time,
to remember...
I will remember the winds of trouble
Stirring the still
Changing my direction for better
Or worse
I will remember thunder
Teaching me to respect things unseen
To fear them
To search for what I will never find
I will remember the lightning
The shock of uncertainty
The awe of the uncontrollable
I will remember earthquakes of emotions
Love, passion, sadness
Rock me to my soul
I will remember the hurricanes
The calm before the storms
And being able to pick up the pieces on the other side
Oh what I've weathered...
Until then though, I will enjoy the sunrise
The breaking of the dawn
And new things to come
Embracing the darkness enveloping my skin
And I will remember the warmth of the sunshine on my face
Illuminating me from within
I will remember the rain washing away my tragedies
Allowing me to start anew
I will remember the snows bitter cold
Freezing everything it touches for a moment in time
Giving me time,
to remember...
I will remember the winds of trouble
Stirring the still
Changing my direction for better
Or worse
I will remember thunder
Teaching me to respect things unseen
To fear them
To search for what I will never find
I will remember the lightning
The shock of uncertainty
The awe of the uncontrollable
I will remember earthquakes of emotions
Love, passion, sadness
Rock me to my soul
I will remember the hurricanes
The calm before the storms
And being able to pick up the pieces on the other side
Oh what I've weathered...
Until then though, I will enjoy the sunrise
The breaking of the dawn
And new things to come
