The Weight I & II
`~,,~`
I look at you,
Look at you, an judge
Judge you compared to another age,
Come an look, behold, what I see
Full of knowledge, yet eyes tired weak,
The skin scarred with reminders, of that bitch called life
Used to go all day, with no breaks
Worked the whole day through,
Strong, ignorant, foul mouthed and smelling to high heaven,
Muscles lean an strong
Man, you was a rambler, vibrant and strong, never slowing down, no, I never slowed down
I was happy then, coming home,
In desire I was hungry
But as the candle fades, I fade, burnt out with desires,
Broken, fuked and wantin in the ground
Your lips used to be fuller,
Your hair was darker, then, longer and thick,
A hand full of precious beautiful hair
The eyes, your eyes were visceral, still takin in knowledge, like a baby
That was years ago, before life ruined you
You used to be so viral man, look at you
Worn out, beaten down by life
My God, they killed you, they killed you man
And only the shell remains
27, 23, 19 17, man, my favorite years,
20 years now, man where’d they go,
37, Lord, I don’t know
Young an unencumbered by the laws
I just did
Now am just tired all the time
```~~..~~``
You alright, she says, lookin at me caringly
kinda growling, kind sighing, I nod my head
Yeah, only, just… yeah…
Had a dream, and I hated waking from it
Makin no sound, I look back down
Turnin up my music, like a fugitive,
Desperately trying to escape,
Reality, thou are a bitch
Always hunting me down again
Drink in hand, I drink from it once again
Tryin to hold firm to what used to know was right,
Or numb to what I view as the weight,
A dream I wish didn’t light a desire, but it did,
```~~~...~~~```
