There's been a lot more 'rock' and 'roll'
In double beds since birth control
Curbed inevitability,
Post-coital, of pregnancy.
Couples can get together more,
To take their fill of sex's store.

Not really sure what the title has to do with the poem but the poem is undeniably true, if a bit clinical for my taste. Interesting write.

That was thought up overnight, a few days after reading a biography of Marie Stopes. Perhaps it's hyperbolical but I was summing up the influence of her and other birth control pioneers in a few lines. The 'rock' and 'roll' was intentional double entendre. I would not be quick to call it clinical because I avoided anatomical descriptions.
Margaret Sanger, I'm familiar with. But who is Marie Stopes? Someone over in the UK, no doubt.
She was a British contemporary of Sanger, by whom she was influenced and helped. Stopes as a result and with the financial backing of her second husband (her previous one was divorced for non-consummation) published for couples the book "Married Love" in 1918, which advised birth control, as well as founding the first birth control clinic in England. Stopes (1880-1958), was a scientist who had majored in geology as well as biology.
