My Own Wonderland
I was at a tea party with an elephant, George.
"George, George," I say, "how are you today?"
He glares at me.
Pain. Pain.
All I feel is pain!
He got up out of his chair.
I fell through the hole.
The black hole in the mud.
A fish swam by.
He didn't talk.
I'm alone.
It's dark in here.
What?
Stars?
The stars are out and it's a beautiful and magical night.
The breeze is feeling bright.
Bright as light shines.
Piercing every inch of skin I have exposed.
"Who's there?" I ask.
A fox looks at me.
She wants me to follow her to the river where she keeps her den.
I journey along. I'm running. My feet leave prints as I pick up the earth with every step I take.
I come to a cliff.
Where is the fox? Where did she go?
I'm alone.
She left me alone.
I almost fall off.
"Hello little mouse." I say ever so gladly.
"I don't suppose you know where lady fox went?"
He pushes me off and I'm falling.
Falling.
The sky catches me.
Am I dead?
I walk through the air but I hit glass.
Glass?
I'm trapped!
Where is my head?
"Help! Help!" The panic is real.
The walls slide together and this cage gets smaller.
I'm trapped in my own wonderland of insanity!
Two strong hands grab me.
Something stabs me.
I'm in a room as I rock back and forth.
I hold my knees close to my chest.
"Breathe." They say.
I calm down and breathe.
"Hello," comes a voice from the corner of the room.
"Come back with me! You need to escape! I can help you escape!"
I smile ever so cunningly at the little white mouse.
They will never take me away from my beautiful escape.
They leave.
I'm free.
I'm free to travel back to my beautiful insanity.
