There is a lady inside our refrigerator
She crawled into it one day
When the guard was upstairs watching
The microwave display
The Others put her in there
Because she was different
Her blue eyes had silver flecks
And when she was little
She dreamed of racing cars
Once she had music inside and she sang
But the others shut her up
She sang of love
And they wanted to forget
Now she is cold, lonely, sad
Preserved in metal
She groans and spits out ice-
Thud-
I can hear her
She isn’t totally frozen
Her heart is warm
It hums softly sometimes When I am the only one around
I’m the only one who knows she’s there
And I
I will get her out one day
I will hide her in my room
She will trust me and
And I will tell her
That when the others laughed at
My chameleon eyes and driving habits
I didn’t freeze my life away
I merely hid inside myself
She crawled into it one day
When the guard was upstairs watching
The microwave display
The Others put her in there
Because she was different
Her blue eyes had silver flecks
And when she was little
She dreamed of racing cars
Once she had music inside and she sang
But the others shut her up
She sang of love
And they wanted to forget
Now she is cold, lonely, sad
Preserved in metal
She groans and spits out ice-
Thud-
I can hear her
She isn’t totally frozen
Her heart is warm
It hums softly sometimes When I am the only one around
I’m the only one who knows she’s there
And I
I will get her out one day
I will hide her in my room
She will trust me and
And I will tell her
That when the others laughed at
My chameleon eyes and driving habits
I didn’t freeze my life away
I merely hid inside myself
