wolf in a snowdrift
her mind sees white
the cold drifts hanging
over her windswept den
icy curtains
thick curving frozen
blankets
her mind sees white
even when she closes
her lids against
the cold encroaching
stillness
of night
her mind sees white
as she curls into
a cloud of fluff
holding onto whatever
warmth is left
her tail covering her muzzle
her own breath
keeping her warm
she sees only white
as her eyes flutter
against the icy air
her breath a white mist
a ghost above her lair
the cold drifts hanging
over her windswept den
icy curtains
thick curving frozen
blankets
her mind sees white
even when she closes
her lids against
the cold encroaching
stillness
of night
her mind sees white
as she curls into
a cloud of fluff
holding onto whatever
warmth is left
her tail covering her muzzle
her own breath
keeping her warm
she sees only white
as her eyes flutter
against the icy air
her breath a white mist
a ghost above her lair
