Center Stage (Act II)

Here I am, alone once more...
as wind blows dust across the floor.
The tome still empty upon the stage,
mold and age plague each page.

Tattered and barren, just like me...
put on display for all to see.
And as I walk upon the set,
I am reminded of her silhouette.

A spotlight shined on upon the floor,
reminding me of something more.
The flower blossoms that once were here,
left a token shaped like a tear.

On the floor, where teardrops stained...
a single pedal is all that remained.
I now remember her luminance,
As a side effect of penitence.

Her radiant visage...it haunts me so,
warped by regret, I cannot let go.
I still hear her sadistic laughter...
that ruined every smile thereafter.

Knowing she was merely a vision,
just a derision in my heart's prison.

...

So why am I forced to endure...
endless sorrow that is so pure...?
Why Must I play the fool,
as emptiness continues its rule?

I am sick of being a marionette,
treated as Agony's little pet!
I am tired of being a just a pawn,
for misery to embrace each dawn.

Loneliness has had its laugh!
Treating me as a sickly calf!
I have been broken and weak,
sadness within, so sadness I speak.

...

But who am I trying to kid?
the heart's depth is where I hid.
All can see how the I am displayed,
No one is fooled by the masquerade.

Miserable is my brand of shame,
lonely is my middle name.
Despair is the weapon of abuse,
in this puppet's tangled noose.

...

The spotlight fades, as desire dies,
slowly dimming, like the light in my eyes.
No hopes of joy, or glimmers of peace,
all aspirations wither and cease...

....

There I am sitting...on the darkened stage,
as wind rustles dust on the empty page...

This puppet no longer wishes to dance...
in the shadows of a dead romance.
