it is hard to believe when partners say this to the mother of their children. it is terribly hard. but keep saying it. one day we might believe you fellas. :)

This might be sexist, but I think women are more vain about their looks, and can be slowly devastated as they get older and have children, seeing age and biology have their effect.  So when someone like you comes along and tells them they're still beautiful, which they are, they become confused, even suspicious.  But persistence pays off, continued reminders that they are desirable, which they most assuredly are. You are a truly humane and sensitive writer Frank, and apparently love women as much as I do.  Fine job.    

Thank-you Crowfly. I completely agree, I think women are exposed to greater vulnerabilities over body image. I am sure the force fed glossy magazines and pop culture imagery that constantly force feed modified imagery of idyllic female forms significantly contributed to this.
I can understand the confusion then as to why men would still find someone who has lost some of these supposed idyllic features to body morphing events like child birth, sexy and attractive.

But to me it makes them more so!
