Sunny Day

she wore brown suede boots
cut off shorts
white tank
grey sweatshirt
she stepped out into
the cool ocean air

the men on the shore
tossed balls and frisbees
to their border collies
racing and rummaging
in the sand
every now and then
they would lean the frisbee
against her leg
to invite her to join in their
exuberant romp
she could not help
but give in to their
joyous attempts at play

the men spoke of local events
and life lessons
striking up friendly conversation
to every passerby

women passed
dishes filled with local
soft serve sundaes
to sit on benches
enjoying all of life's sweet moments

a couple with a young child
leaned on the stone wall
and laughed as their little one
giggled with happiness
at the collies digging
for the buried frisbee
and leaping into the waves
for tennis balls,
emerging they shared their
very wet bodies
shaking, showering us
with salt water and sand

a woman came by as she leaned
against her car
look at her she exclaimed
you are so adorable
you look like a Rock Star
