Freezing Over

The air is cold,
your body is warm.
I reluctantly rest in your arms
and try to sleep quietly 'til the morning.
But the thoughts keep me up
and you notice I'm awake,
you hold me a little closer
realizing my health is at stake.

I'm shaking uncontrollably, unable to stay still.
Just a few hours ago I was okay,
I didn't even feel ill.

This fever is high,
and there's no more medicine to take.
It's going to be at least an hour or so
until this fever finally breaks.

So, for now, just hold me.
Tell me it'll all be okay.
I just hope I feel better
by the time I see the light of day.

As of right now,
I can't think or
see straight.
But as long as you're here
I'll be fine and I'll wait
until I'm all better
and it's a new day.

Just fill me up with your cough medicine and love
and I think I'll be okay.
