Ball of Fire
There's a chill in the morning air
Birds singing in the distance
Bats floating near the pines;
Cream in my coffee tastes so sweet
Warming my mouth
Sunrise peeking above the mountains
Just a pinch; a golden glow
I'll wait for the earth to give birth to it all
Hoping that ancient ball of fire
Warms my body like a flame;
Birds singing in the distance
Bats floating near the pines;
Cream in my coffee tastes so sweet
Warming my mouth
Sunrise peeking above the mountains
Just a pinch; a golden glow
I'll wait for the earth to give birth to it all
Hoping that ancient ball of fire
Warms my body like a flame;

I love the serenity in this piece and how you describe seemingly ordinary, most often overlooked natural events, as if they are a spiritual experience...which they are.
My favorite line:
"I'll wait for the earth to give birth to it all"
Bravisima Tommie!

No. You are doing what we all should do...be more aware of the beauty around us. Thank you for reminding me to do.

Wonderful pen, marvelous. Transported me from my closed in living room to the great outdoors. Transition from the morning chill to the suns warmth. Listened to birds, watched the bats, tasted the coffee. Absorbed the greater outdoor space, and enjoyed the sunrise.

Tommie Lynn, luv :-* ~
You make me miss with soul-deep pangs being out on the acreage. There is something ineffable and wholly marvelous that renews the soul that can only be found in the open air amidst soil and trees and free flowing water - oh! My heart aches for it...
