My Philosophy.

Kinda postmodernist but a 'Pragmatic Postmodernist' i.e. postmodernism qualified by pragmatism of John Dewey etc and also I don't agree with postmodernists politics. More structuralist than post-structuralist. Syncretic.  Pragmatist.  Pragmatist Feminist .Taoist. Zen Buddhist . Phenomenology. Feminist Phenomenology. Feminist Philosophy. existentialism. No givens, no essences, Monism, oppose dualism. Desire to break down false distinctions. Everything is changing, everything is in process, nothing is fixed, no objective neutral claims,Use of Eastern philosophy to improve life, trying to break down subject/object distinction, existentialism clears away metaphysics then we must embrace life as art and as adventure. only so good as it's useful.

Opposed to Cartesianism, essentialism, human nature, logical positivism, Scientism, strict rationalism, strict empiricism, individualistic idea of self,  foundationalism, Skepticism, Kant, natural law.

meta philosophy: Post-philosophy like Richard Rorty. "partially examined life". Gives up on some philosophical 'problems'. Some philosophical issues re irrelevant. Philosophy is best when it is  applied, when it's practical, when it goes from real life problems to theory not the other way round. Philosophy is a guide to problem solving. It should not be  a distinct academic discipline. It should not be ivory tower. Rorty and Dewey's Criticisms of Philosophy. Rejection of  Cartesian  project for philosophy-attempt to find grounding for all knowledge , attempt to find certainty, anthropocentrism, speciesism, setting up of harmful dualisms etc.

Metaphysics:   Opposed to most Metaphysics,  Opposed to Scientism, Pragmatic  Naturalism opposed to supernaturalism , Taoism, Zen Buddhism, No Self,  pragmatic Free Will,  Pragmatic atheism.

Epistemology: No Such thing as value free, few absolutes, few universal truths,  rejection of fact/emotion distinction, Knowledge as historical social contextual, Situated Knowledge, Standpoints Theory,  social constructivism, Historicism, pragmatic theory of truth, anti-foundationalism, Lived Experience, Fallibilism( Truth as provisional ), Perspectivalism, Process, experimentation, Embodiment, Dialectics, Rejection of Descartes' approach, Rejection of Kant's noumena, and phenomena distinction,   Rejection of Husserl's Epoche/bracketing , Knowledge is political, motion, change, Rejection of foundationalism, pragmatic use of assumptions to begin making claims to knowledge. John Dewey, William James, Richard Rorty, C.S. Peirce, Kuhn?, Foucault,  Taoism, Zen,

Ethics: Ethics  as on-going debate and discussion.Ethics as contextual historical evolving. No natural law ethics. No one ethical theory is best.  Ethics is roughly rules of thumb. ethical thought experiments can help clarify our thinking but too abstract to be practical sometimes. Ethics should include animals and the environment. Ethics are political, politics is ethics. Rejection of Hume's IS/ought distinction. Taoist rejection of formulaic ethics. Flourishing. Ethics of care. John Dewey, aristotle and Taoism.

aesthetics:  Discussions of art and beauty are historical and  political. art is political, philosophical  and cannot be otherwise. No discussions of art and beauty are 'objective' or neutral. anything is art. "art for art sakes "doesn't make much sense. Inspired by Postmodernism, Dada and surrealism. Rejection of attempts to be prescriptive about art and beauty. Not anti-modernism but not pro-modernism either. Art is alienated creativity which we should exercise in our lives as much as we can and   can only be un alienated with revolution s argued by the Situationists. Everyone can and should be creative. Psychogeography ,Flaneur, Derive,
