What to do
Dear deep underground poets
I'm glad that I've found this site
I've read many things from talented folks
To comment would only seem right
But I'm lacking
Past my half century and only just found
My liking for lyrics and prose
I know most my writing is only in rhyme
But it feels good having a go
Feel I'm slacking
Don't have the knowledge to analyze work
I admire the people who write it
I would like to say more in the comments below
Feels wrong to just say "I like it" (or not)
I'm backing
My name's not a poet because that's what I am
I can't pretend to be more
Is it time to stop posting my dribble for now
And go back and read a lot more
I'm asking

This is really clever, it made me smile because, believe me, not alot of us actually know what we are doing and for those who do usually it's too analytical. I think it's an insightful and really, quite cheery poem. Well Done poet. :)

You're doing it; that, my friend, is most of it. Liking a poem or not liking a poem, you know why?
And besides, how many of us are not deep underground and invisible to the world? I agree: this site is wonderful, this site is encouraging, truly a great and universal workshop.
When I get a poem rejected by an editor who offers his or her analysis, honestly, sometimes I don't have a clue as to what they are talking about. So don't always go by what the so-called learned have to say--just think and write the way you wrote your poem, truthfully sound. And keep doing it.

i have to agree with these guys ^. most of us don't know what we're doing. i certainly don't. i have preferences and i'm sometimes able to place what it is i do or don't like about a poem/prose, but you seem to be chucking some very enjoyable writes at us! i would never say you should just stop! some people should, but not you. on the contrary, the more feedback you get, the more you can improve if need be, or just see your work through another set of eyes. either way, though, reading more is always a good idea. [:

ditto to everyone above with one addition. Write whatever feels right, when it feels right, how it feels right. Improvements can always be made if YOU think they are necessary or appropriate. Write like no one will ever see your work. Then you can decide if you want them to. Love the work. Keep it coming.

I must admit I was going through a period of self doubt. But thanks to the wonderful comments and encouragement received I shall continue writing and posting my dribble.

I would like to add my own modest note of approval to such candid, straightforward, and at least partially rhyming and structured efforts.

hi poet im reciprocating on your comments about my stuff i loved What To Do its right up my street it raised a giggle and getting reactions positive or negative is what its all about and as you know i like to rhyme its trickier than people think keep up the very good work THATS MY KINDA POEM hahaha well done again m8

You'd made the comment that you like my style but having read your poems, it seems to me as if our styles are similar. And so I like your style too!
