I write many different kinds of poems and though I try to keep them upbeat, some don't quite work out that way. Most are about love and the heartbreak that goes along with it...

Don't Be Afraid
So many people like to stare
while others decide to scare
anyone they see
who doesn't blend into the sea;
The sea of people that walk by
everyone trying hard to hide
their strangeness and beauty
from others' scrutiny.
They keep it locked up
so no one will know what
they are truly like
deep down inside.
I get it, I do
because I do this too.
But listen up and truly hear
what I'm saying loud and clear:
Don't be afraid of who you are;
everyone's a brilliant star.
They all have inner battles
and things they must handle....
while others decide to scare

Good-Bye
I let you in
held you close
wanted even more
though you didn't know.
I'm plagued by fear
I'll never find *him*
the one guy it's clear
is better than them
the guy who'll love me
with no regrets
who will stay with me
and show me respect.
He'll hold me
let me cry.
He will not cheat.
He will not lie.
I thought it was you
but I was wrong
you were missing the true
in true love.
you were so easy to love
after a while
but you weren't even half
what I thought you were.
You had me fooled
for so long....
held you close

though you didn't know.

My Smile
Pale and fragile,
sweet and innocent;
what you see while
my smile is bent
and ever broken;
always shattered
from words spoken
by those who mattered,
those I loved
that killed my heart
and gave a shove
when I did start
to prove my love
that was so true
but just wasn't enough
for someone like you....

Not Ready Yet
You're amazing; I know
but how can I show
you anything that's real
if I don't know how I really feel?
If my mind is lost
and my heart just stops
when you come into sight
then speeds with fright.
I know you like me; you know I like you
but seriously, hunn, what do we do?
It's too late to stop; turn away.
If we did, I'm sure, my heart would break.
I think just maybe
I have an even deeper feeling
in your case
though I'll never say it to your face.
I think the "L" word
is what I'm looking for
but I'm not ready to...
but how can I show

Old Friend
I knew you then
but do I now?
If I can win
please tell me how.
I don't know what
to do with you here.
I like you but
is it just the new year?
You look good;
yes it's true.
I'm not sure if I should
try this with you...
I've missed you lots
since you left.
A couple of years have passed
since then.
You come back and
it's like you never left.
We start right back
where we were then.
More mature
but still the same.
We admitted our feelings
to each other...
Now, if only, we'd
talk to one another....
but do I now?
If I can win
please tell me how.
I don't know what
to do with you here.

Imperfections
So many people see how you look
much like they judge a book:
by it's cover
including the color.
But you are wonderful and bright
just enough to be that light
for those in the dark
who need healing of the heart.
Do not let it phase you
when they say things untrue.
Just let it pass
and let them laugh.
One day they'll see
it's not really funny.
They'll realize they were wrong
all along.

I cannot possibly hide.
It consumes me
in every way; completely.
I didn't plan this
or even want it.
I was through with love
had finally had enough.
I was hurt often and terribly
though my scars no one could see.
You came along from nowhere at all
and made me once again stand tall.
I'd been ignored for so long,

I'd been treated like dirt
and couldn't afford more hurt.
I believed myself ugly

Happily Ever After Part 2
Here I am in this tower
forever and ever, hour after hour.
I cannot leave
til I'm set free.
No one has come
to or from
this tower
behind the waterfall shower.
No one sees me
am I not pretty?
Am I not good enough
to steal someone's love
at first glance
even by chance?
Oh, wait!
Look straight!
There is a man
who possibly can
set me free
from this tower I cannot leave.

He's looking up

Happily Ever After Part 1
I am a young girl of only thirteen
locked in a tower going unseen.
I've been here quite some time,
a glimpse of the world always denied.
I have few things
other than what is brought to me.
I make things sometimes
though none is realized
by those who placed me here
and leave me stranded throughout the year.
They come one time
to see how big am I
in order to keep me clothed
because they're the only ones who know
how long it's been
since I've seen my kin.
I was taken as a child

Don't Cry
There was a time
with this one guy...
he was so fine,
made me wanna fly.
We liked each other
and thanks to a friend,
we got together
and have been since then.
During school
it was great.
It wasn't cool
but they still hate
our times of laughter
and constant smiles.
It's what they're after
but couldn't reach for miles.
Then summer came,
it was no longer cool,
I haven't really seen him
since school.
I miss him so much
and get so mad.
My mom said to leave him
and I was ready for just that.
Then I saw...

I Don't Even Know....
I still like you
though I like another who
has been with me a while
though he now just seems to get me riled.
I almost want to let it end
so that I won't have to send
him messages untrue
just because I like you.
He would hate me so
and probably call me a hoe.
I am still rather shy
and I know I would cry.
He says he loves me
but he's been mad lately.
He hasn't said a word
so I'm scared of who shall get hurt.
