House and Home
The smaller the better
Stronger and high
Keeping the crowds away
Bodies of loud opinions
With comfort comes safety
And trust with isolation
I’m not awkward or anti-social
I’m an addict to familiarity
My complexity is simple
I invest in own world
Living on the inside looking out
Surrounded by everything
Yet I am exposed to nothing
Pains of the world exist
But only if I let them in
This is my balance, my scale
Clean and calculated
Envisioned and executed
Never compromised or broken
Happiness is in the...

Falling
One final step
A long, deep breath
You can't imagine the serenity you feel
When you finally decide to end it all
Memories can't satisfy or sustain anymore
The nostalgia that gave me hope is dead
Those long ago days when life was blissful
That American Pie bullshit I lived
It just set me up for the worst depression
The past was a drug and it's high is impossible
I tried placing happiness in other things
My future could be anything, anything but the past
If only, if I didn't take being a kid for granted

Hollywood Logic
Here lies a book, a masterful creation
Intense in every way imaginable
One that made your eyes zig-zag for hours.
Your mind is blown at how such a thing can exist
Words arranged in this order should be illegal
Then, one day you're browsing the interwebz
“What's this”, you ask, “They're making a movie!?”
Excitement surges through your body,
“Alas, my life is now complete!
A visual representation? No, the world is not yet ready”
The weeks pass and you watch every trailer,
Take part in every online discussion board,
And spend hours on...

Girl in a Comic Book Shop
Tucked away on the main drag there's a shop
A little comic book store that holds wonders;
Endless rabbit holes of grandeur tales,
Nerdy arguments over Superman's legitimacy of being a hero
And a pretty girl who shuffles through boxes every Wednesday.
Myself, indulged into the dedicated table of all that is Batman,
Occasionally peek up at her standing comfortably awkward
Biting her lip as she flips through the pages
She's such a rare sight to see in this testosterone filled place
And these greasy haired boys don't know what to do

My Zombie Ex-Girlfriend
Most often you're told that when the pressure is on everything slows down.
I can tell you from current circumstances this is not true,
As we speak I'm running around like a scared puppy who's far from home.
There's a fire in my chest that is growing with each furious step I take.
My mind can't focus on anything for more than a second or two,
Which is unfortunate because I could really use an escape plan.
Most often you're told that you can do anything you set your mind too.
This would be valid had the laws of physics not been so...physical.
My heart was...

Full Circle
Creation starts it all,
life is birthed and celebrated.
The journey begins.
Lessons are learned
Passed on to you from the wiser.
You grow,
reckless but fruitful.
Coming of age
You wither,
carefully but brilliant.
Lessons are taught
Passed on to the ignorant.
And the journey ends.
Life is fulfilled and celebrated,
Death ends it all.

Show and Tell
Today is Friday,
That means its time for Show and Tell.
All the little kids gather round
And just like always each kid brings a picture.
A photo of their family, all different,
But still a picture.
Mrs. Johnson encourages it.
“That's the way we do things”, she would say.
“A family portrait is the best way to express yourself”.
Apparently that what Show and Tell is.
You express yourself however you want,
But there are rules to follow and abide by.
Little Timmy doesn't like that, he hates rules.
So this time, he brought in a...

The Fence: Living Dreams
A blanket tied around his neck,
Dad's belt and Mom's kitchen utensils,
Pants with his underwear on the outside,
And his favorite Batman shirt.
He's a hero, fighting fiction
This is his dream and reality
As only a child's imagination can.
With time he'll grow further away.
Age will pull him apart from heroes,
He'll grow up and stop believing.
But until then, he's going to go on
Defiling the Joker and breaking Bane's back
He'll invent his own martial arts
Generate epic sound-effects
When done, ride off into...

Happy f**king Valentine's Day
When I touch your lips my heart stops beating
In your eyes I get lost and my world disapears
Your voice drowns out the noise of my conscience
Falling deeper and deeper into you trap
Nothing is more painful than your attention
Without you next to me I can't catch my breath
My addiction to you is killing me little by little
Desperate for a fix, your sex allows me to drag on
Like a bad habit I can't break myself away from you
Any day now I'll fall apart and collapse to the floor
Gasping, crying, begging to let myself move on
There's no hope...

Memories Revisited
It's been so long my friend, since we last hung out
I remember all the wonderful times we had together
Do you remember?
How about that time someone laced you with some LSD
Did you know I had to walk home that night
I was tripping balls at all the little kids sidewalk art
The chalklines jumped into reality and we played together for hours
People on their porches were pointing and laughing as I danced in the street
I believe that was the night I ate three whole pizzas
Or how about that time in the apple orchard
Me, Trent and some other guys...
