I tend to listen to metal and classical. It is kind of a weird combination of music. Woe Is Me is one of them and I also listen to bands like Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance.

I love all kinds of music. Mostly into rock lately. " bring me the horizon" I'm really into. I like anything that pushes outside the box.

I know there are bands that are greater, but I always had a soft spot for the band 'WAR.'  They were so unrehearsed and real.  Just a bunch of guys, getting a little high and jamming.  No egos or drama.  And they were such a multicultural band; without even trying.  Cisco Kid, Low Rider, I loved all their music.  But what could be better, than 'Spill The Wine.'  To this day I try to figure out the mystery to their lyrics.

I love music, so this is a long post!

Rock music of the 70s and 80s really influenced my writing, and I tried being a songwriter for a while. Although I don’t like to write rhyming poetry, my style is generally reflective of what I’m listening to at any given time.
Fleetwood Mac (with Stevie and Lindsay),
Queen (their first 3 early, weird albums);
Cheap Trick!
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
80s metal: Ronnie James Dio, Metallica; early: UFO, Van Halen (with David Lee Roth!), Kings X.
Punk and new wave/pop - faves: The Damned, Elvis Costello, The Clash, Nick Lowe;  early R.E.M.,

Classical, film music, jazz — I listen to in the long commute and all day at work — gives me perspective, keeps me motivated. I love film scores of action/adventure movies like “Gladiator” and “300” that are driving and climactic when I’m writing. Fave film music composers:  Ennio Morricone, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, Vic Mizzy.

Random rock and pop music - I discover music via friends and odd places all the time. Some of my faves:
Spike Jones and His City Slickers
60s surf rock
Neil Diamond - 1960s to “Beautiful Noise”
Grunge (I lived in Seattle in the post-grunge-era): Pearl Jam, Soundgarden,
Misc SubPop artists and other Seattle bands/descendants such as Fastbacks, Young Fresh Fellows; Audioslave and Foo Fighters;
Weird Al Yankovic
The Black Crowes  (early-mid-career)
The Goo Goo Dolls (early-mid-career)
P.J. Harvey (fave album: Stories of the City, Stories of the Sea”)
Robbie Williams (late 1990s-early 2000s),
The Verve (fave album: “Urban Hymns”)
Three Days Grace (fave album: “Transit of Venus”),
The Black Keys (fave album: “El Camino”)
Arctic Monkeys (fave album: “AM”)
Apocalyptica (fave album: “Worlds Collide”)

I’ll stop now! - Hades
