The year 2014 saw the passing of many great poets.  So many it seems almost phenomenal.  I invite everyone to contribute to this thread their admirations and tributes to these great minds.
The following is my dedication to but a few poets that have left us this past year, accompanied by some photo-slop I’ve thrown together.

Poets Never Die

Poetry is the word alive
So no poet can really die

They’re writing upon
The cosmic consciousness
In written verse electrified

To wonder the stars
In immortal infinity
For other beings to find

'Why the caged bird sings'
Why we should ‘never go back'
And the joy of ‘Blackberry eating’

Galway Kinnell, Felix Dennis, Maya Angelou
Tonight I’ll be reading you
By the light of the Aura Borealis

A couple of months before 2014 came, Seamus Heaney passed at age 74

“We live here in critical times ourselves, when the idea of poetry as an art is in danger of being overshadowed by a quest for poetry as a diagram of political attitudes,”.

“Some commentators have all the fussy literalism of an official from the ministry of truth.”

Thanks Craic.  A winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Seamus was indeed, one of the greats.

HILLSIDE
Thursday early morning
29/5/2014

GOOD BYE TO MAYA

The time clocks,
still is the air,
the ancient rocks
don’t seem to care.

You leave your mark
to quite a few,
and then there's dark
and there's no you.

Good bye, good soul,
gone with the tide,
your song, your dole,
I keep with pride.
