when we shut our eyes
and listen to the sacred word of prophets and scriptures
we're led to believe
that all existence was created in six days
that apple trees bear wisdom and snakes are evil
holy men prophesied plague and famine
parted seas and built arcs for animal welfare
that real [holy] men
who posses man-caves to pray in solitude for several months
are visited by heavenly angels and instructed
to pray some more for forgiveness of their sins
blessed men
empowered and glorified like kings
grew armies of ten thousand men
only to sin again
[oh] and they're also told
they mustn't eat pork... or squid
octopus, crayfish, shellfish or crab
and any fish without scales and fins
[keep your eyes closed]
there's one who called himself the son of god
born from a virgin mother
he walked on water and turned water into wine
cured the sick and raised the dead
before he was crucified by the chosen
he died and returned
a zombie from the grave
and if one god of three faiths is not enough
there are holy monks
reincarnated gurus who are taken
from their families when they're six years old
raised in monasteries by bald headed men
searching for enlightenment
by simply sitting under a [fig] tree
and others who believe in so many gods
they pray to a different god everyday of the year
and hope that karma won't be a bitch
when they come back as aliens in the next life
buzzing around in celestial objects
abducting sacred cows from the streets of squalor
when we open our eyes
we realise
greatness does not come from the power of faith
nor impressed by temples of stone [the enslavement of our minds]
true greatness comes from the heart
