What would be your definition of erotica, in that case? There's no right or wrong answer. I'd just be interested in juxtaposing various conceptions against Webster's definition (and my own interpretation). I'm sure everyone has their own take on it, and it sounds like you prefer subtle allusion to bald imagery, which is perfectly fair.

I dunno if I want my thoughts juxtaposed with Webster's.  what's your thoughts?

Like I said, my ideas of what constitute pornography and erotica are not mutually exclusive, so I was just curious what justification folks had for making the distinction.

From what I've seen on the threads, the EC for submitted pieces is a rather slapdash legal CYA to avoid being classified an "Adult" site.  It's usage and policing, as with that of the threads is random and arbitrary.

I personally do not read anything that is marked EC because if the writer feels it's too over the top for the threads and needs to come with a warning, I will heed their warning.

While I may be missing some excellent poetry it's the trade off for saving myself from reading 8-10 lines of bad porn.

So while I think it is a horribly flawed (and failed) system, I'm grateful it exists.
