Aside from the yearning teenage fantasies as well as the horn dog scribbling featured in the erotic poetry section, will poems about Gawd, Gawd Jr.,(Jesus)guns, the very much supremely enlightened white race,Muslim bashing and other extremely right wing evangelical material get a poet more recognition here at DUP?

There is no education like adversity; if you cannot beat them then join them.
- Though I feel that would be a waste of your talent. Even if your words are spoken in jest. Your list of alternative topics smack too similar to the norm: namely stuff that grabs attention by being brash and giving the masses what they want.
Seek not to fit in but to stand out.
Joining in with the torrent of laughably termed 'erotica' or teen fantasies would most likely only seen you or any other poet who takes such a path end up drowned down that path. Fitting in is hardly going to get recognition. Oh great, poet X has some 'erotica' instead of poet Y this will really mean something, not.
One choice is to stand out by not joining in the crowd and standing firm to the topics that mean the most to you. Another is turning less popular topics into 'erotica' rivals by including the ingredients and sating their crave a different way.
And then there is the choice of being yourself, and that is worth more than any recognition.
Truth does not always set us free, but it is a good tool on the path to freedom. Having complete knowledge about a betrayal would not necessarily free you from the sense of betrayal, and neither would it make you able to stop it. Or rather, knowing how to drive a car would be only half the battle and incomplete without a car to drive.

I think it very much depends on the presentation and the readers. There are so many poems here that are worth reading, under all the categories. We do advocate freedom of expressions, of course, but racial and religious slurs against other members are not allowed.

Hardly, this website is influenced heavily by what you could describe as 'left-wing'. The methods of authority and discipline and the progressive, soft touch approach all point to this. As for the poetry published here, you choose what you read, and you place yourself in these situations that may emotionally charge you.
If you take issue to the typical right wing mindset, I don't know why you're complaining.. This place is the furthest thing from it.

Why do you want recognition on du? How would you know if you got recognition? Why do you write, what do you hope to achieve?
I write to express myself, and because I enjoy it. Comments, feedback are nice, but I'll continue to write, till I tire of it.

Hmmm...
To address a point nestled betwixt some others there that nettled me a bit...
I think, that is, I do feel compelled to say:
Perhaps, erotica is as valid a topic...
Nay, let me say, IS even more fundamental to the raw, visceral, human essence of poetry than many another more esoteric or abstruse subject.
Historically, throughout poetry, eroticism runs quite deeply, thoroughly infiltrating the poetry of all cultures and ages, peoples and places. To discount and dismiss the glory of human sexuality is a grave error, I feel, especially in poesy.

I wanted to mention that a way to get recognition is to comment on other peoples poem, and the people that you share their viewpoint and/or respect their skill then follow that poet. In time, you can build a group of people you follow, and they also follow you... Is that recognition?
Also, if someone comments on your poems, respond politely and possibly engage the comment.

An interesting discussion indeed...
Jack-Tex...interesting comments as always...like having our very own philosopher at DU....
I concur with the points Savaja made about eroticism...
And also jvp's comments...especially as to why he writes/shares on DU...
Just write, let go of who will read and make comments or not, or whether you're recognised per se
By sharing on DU, reading other poets' work, you are guaranteed to grow in your own...
