Correct me if I am wrong but isn't 'fetish' roughly translatable as 'turns-you-on' or sexually arousing and interesting. Which if it is then quite possibly most things are a fetish, just have to find the lever to unleash the flood. The number one source of fetish by that logic is the female/woman/girl you get the jist, and to cover all the bases the number two source is the male/man/boy, and in this day and age it is quite possible for the realtionship to only contain number two.

Anyway, surely as long as the (more than) significant other is okay and accepting of the fetish it is fine. When its forced then there's trouble and problems abound.

P.S. might be just me but seems a few of the gals on DU flirt with fetish so possibly like it, yes?

Viddax, you should read the Urban Dictionary sometime. There is sooooooooo much you can still learn....

Here from the online common dictionary:
feˇtish
noun \ˈfe-tish also ˈfē-\

: a strong and unusual need or desire for something

: a need or desire for an object, body part, or activity for sexual excitement

: an object that is believed to have magical powers
Full Definition of FETISH
1
a :  an object (as a small stone carving of an animal) believed to have magical power to protect or aid its owner; broadly :  a material object regarded with superstitious or extravagant trust or reverence
b :  an object of irrational reverence or obsessive devotion :  prepossession
c :  an object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression.

I have a fetish for masks and a few dozen other objects/acts. but they are not extreme (as C defines). Well...maybe one... or two: I can never complete sex without kissing my partner.

One sees a lot of fucked up fetishes on DU. haha
that's forsure
there are some weird fuckers on here (pun intended) haha

the point is I knew a girl who thought fetishes were gross so I just wanted to see what more people than just one thought and this was the only place I could really ask since I'm not on face book or anything.

I have to strongly disagree w/the use of the word 'weird,' altho it was meant in a light-hearted way. there are polite ways to let someone know you're not interested in their offer, as is done in swingers clubs. & if two (or more) participants are attracted to the same fetish, there's nothing at all 'weird' abt it, it's merely a source of additional pleasure.

as members in this writing community, we have the option of posting writes abt fetishes or kinks that we have a strong interest in. if others are attracted to those same distractions, it could allow for some stimulating correspondence...

I'd have to agree with Fedder here. Uncommon interests (if the same) provide common ground between people and if that includes fetishes, then more power to ya. Altho there are some boundaries and rules that need to be provided for each fetish. If someone were to carry one specific interest too far, it could result in psychological/emotional/physical trauma that could become hard to recover from in the future.

My points exactly! There is no 'weird' or 'common ' or 'fetish', not in their usual sense. There is only things which people like and if you don't like it then keep thy silence and don't judge.
However should it clearly be destructive, say a strong desire to see the world burn and genocide run rampant, then by all means bring the righteous will to the fore, to preserve the right and freedoms so dearly cherished.

One fetish that is rampant in modern life is the need and desire to conencted in pseudo-social ways through the internet. But it must be born in mind that finding like-minded people online but never really meeting them in real life, sure beats being alone and unfulfilled because you don't fit in with the neighbourhood.

Just thinking about it, most people's fetish; their icon of power and magic, is their smart-phone or other technologically significant device.

Let me clarify what I meant by "fucked up", because I thought some might have seen what the DU vets have seen around here. Things like mutilating murder, bloody, dangerous rituals, *actual* rape (not staged), paedophelia, including seriously, permanently harming children... All things known to be floating around DU. All things I'd be a bit tentative to try, really... Not meaning to sound like a snob. Hair and toes are not odd fetishes at all.

I have a problem with getting with a guy who has a fetish...
I'm not closed minded in sex, quite the opposite in fact
however!!...a fetish implies he likes certain things regardless of the person he's with
if you could put the same ol getup on another woman and get the desired affect, then I'd rather not...
if you've worshiped the feet of every female who's let you then mine are nothing special
if you like to do certain things, regardless of who your partner is,
then that is not the one for me anyway
that's just my opinion on it though
and in my personal experience, men with fetishes are too self serving in bed anyway (unless the fetish relates to some sort of worship)
