I agree with everyone who said "Trust" but I answered affection. It may sound silly but to me that's the dividing line between a friendship and a relationship - the idea that to him, I'm the first thing he thinks of when he wakes up and the thing he most wants with him when he closes his eyes at night. That I don't rule his world, but I'm definitely a guiding force in it.

Trust is the best one for me because, you can have all of the connection in the world and still not trust that person. Commitment is also a huge one of me.

new to this site, though I think the comment I'm submitting is on the discussion of what's important in a relationship, well out of sex, compassion, affection, and understanding, I'd have to say compassion, because no compassion in a relationship is kind of like having no passion for your own poem, understanding is good, though with nothing but understanding your relationship would be like a family member's of mine, long lasting though with no point and no marriage
