Here is where you can hear me reciting my poem below.  The link will also show the artwork I did for the piece:

Temple of Isis

Like papyrus blossoms sprung from the Nile,
towering pillars stand as a forest ablaze
with temple torch lights.

While above, through crossbeams of
cedars from Lebanon, are seen constellations
that the pyramids of Giza mapped out
on an earthbound grid.

A stellar connection from the golden seat of
the Sun God, to the darkness of the Underworld.

The One who graces this place on such a night
before the act, whose success is sanctioned
by her utterances, comes:

The Eye of Re,
overseen by the Phallus of Osiris
in the Shrine of Sokar,
The confederacy of Seth, wherein
what is near is burning.

The stone gods bear witness
as voices are raised
to chant in solemn song
the words she speaks—

O you who are invisible,
do not await me, for I am Isis.
You found me when I had
disarranged the hair round my face
and my scalp adornments disordered.
I have become pregnant as Isis,
I have conceived as Nephthys.
Isis drives out
those who would disturb me.
The dread of me
follows after me.
My dignity is before me.
Millions bend their arms to me.
The common folk serve me.
The associates of my enemies
are destroyed for me.
The grey-haired ones
uncover their arms for me.
The well-disposed
give sweet things to me.
Those who are in Heliopolis
create things for me.
I live according to my will,
for I am Wadjet,
Lady of the Devouring Flame,
and few approach me.

A nice idea, Brad, putting voices to the words on the screen. I have several videos up on Youtube and DUP. This is the latest one, “Wardrobe Malfunction,” from the annual Calling All Poets marathon held this year in New Paltz, New York.

   https://youtu.be/RJD9xcJ5OZ8

Wardrobe Malfunction

I've ridden the roads of the Hudson Valley
From Sleepy Hollow to Walden,
From Beacon to Poughkeepsie and beyond.
Scouring secondhand shops for the perfect
Brown corduroy jacket with black suede
Elbow patches, maybe a monocle and a black
Basque beret to round out the uniform
Guaranteed to garner literary respect
In the grand old taverns of New York City
Where numb neurons engage in battle with the coat
Providing pauldron, plackart and chainmail protection
Against the high minded and the dirty lowdown.
I stop off at a consignment shop by the river
Rummaging through the closets of the dead
Where a ghost of a seaman whispers in my ear
That I might look quite fetching in a flapper's
Sequined cocktail dress from the twenties.
I keep that in mind but the clothes racks spin on
As I sort through gold nehru suits, leather chaps,
Iridescent green tie dyed tees and bell bottoms.
A shinola brown blazer with gray patches catches
My eye and I do the once over in an ornate mirror
Where at first glance I'm thinking GQ but then it's PU
As like the picture of Dorian Gray morphing,
My image shadows a portly Shrek like creature.
A crime against nature and I realize that even dressed
To the nines the beast within shall not change.
I walk out with a bruised ego in tow but with a soul
Totally sold on not dressing for success but rather
Convalescing in the asylum of my skin.

Are there any rules? For example, certain time length, is cussing allowed, and is their a specific theme?

I was bestowed the honour of reading this, one of my favourite poems on the DU site, by Miss Sub.

Thank you Missy and Brad for permission to enter it in this competition...which I feel is an excelent comp idea.
