DAISY DUKES & COWBOY BOOTS

I wear my dad's old cowboy boots,
I strut and crow when e're I do,
Of course they're too big for my feet.

But that don't stop me, need you ask,
They help show off my sexy ass
When wearing cutoffs, what a treat.

A 2-door Caddy coupe I drive,
A white & coral fifty-five,
The best they made in all that year.

It's time for me to take a spin,
My daisy-dukes rub o'er chrome trim,
Let's make a trip in second gear!

And Daddy's boots hug baby's gams,
The coupe is revved, just feel that cam,
Release the brake, San Marcos pass!

You'll never know a better ride,
My boots that have that snakeskin hide
That give the feel of sex and sass.

HANGING UP MY BOOTS
old boot, new boot

Ever since I,
was a new young recruit
I was excited to wear
many differing boots

Some boots are rubber
and some they are leather
depending on event
the hazard, or weather

Maybe, pulling them on
in middle of night
protecting me (or someone else)
from high Fahrenheit

Those boots and I
must go do our duty
we challenge eachother
and could both end up sooty

Running up and down
phlogisticated hills
Coughing and sputtering
in vibrem souled heels

Just every day wear
With steel in the toe
or a pair of light rubber
should swimming we go

"Lacem and chasem"
as the ole saying goes
like a quick change artist
now in saftey clothes

I have worn them all
for now, thirty  years
not including the
Time  that I volunteered

It's been quite an honor
to wear all of them
If I had a do over
I'd do it again

The finish line now
is so close I can see
God ,please stay close
I pray so humbly

And when I step out
of my last worthy pair
to those left behind
your all in my prayers

Right on my heals
there's an excited recruit
bless him with safety
in all of his boots

Thank you for offering this springboard for writing IronFears ... It was a pleasure to participate!

The piece itself grew out of conversations had with men living in NYC shelters who scratch out a living recycling empty soda and beer bottles for five cents each.

Salud, to all.

Congratulations to the winner - lovely poem, LoboSP - and to the runners-up. This was a very interesting and unusual challenge, IronFears. Thank you for running the competition.

Thanks for joining it.

@snugglebuck, I liked a lot your poem but the topic was not matching what the comp was supposed to be about.

Fun comp. Thanks my Norski friend.  And congrats to Luna and Grace.  Once again the ebony canis lupus wins.  Is there no end to his wily talent?
